My Texas trip is hanging by a thread...
I have never touched my Bailey DV's in 12,000 miles ?
When I got my clutch last year, I had my indy go through it and he put the upgraded Bosch DV's in it at the time. That was 6000-8000 miles ago at 1.2 bar most of the time...
Those upgraded Boschs's last forever on Audi's and Porsches.
I hope for the best, but cold weather + popping noises frightens me.
Good luck

Mike, it did not happen to me, but I heard it happened to someone else. Very strange. Go ahead and stick some race fuel in the car to make the mix about 95-96 and see if it still happens. if it does not then you were lean, if it still happens, then it's something else. at least you can rule out lean by adding octane.
Thanks Marty, as you can see, it's scaring the sh*t out of me too!!! I don't expect to find the DV's bad, but my buddy happens to keep some on the shelf, so I swung by the shop today and grabbed a pair...just in case...

Oops, forgot that too. I had 3-4 gallons of pump in last night and added 2 gallons of 110...still did it...
ok, well that is a good sign. I think if you were running lean, it would have gone away. Might still be the wide bands. Or something much simpler like you thought. sticky lifter?
yes, after last night, I feel better, but not that much better...drivin me nuts...
yeah the poping sound your hearing is most likely the head lifting... the colder the weather the ealier in the boost it starts(more power) i really noticed it when i switched out the turbos for the 3076's it started doing it around 1.2 bar..... i have my motor apart now... putting in the raceware studs.. the tops of my pistons are clean no signs of detonation... the tell tale sign is cly 3 drivers side the cly closest to the firewall look for crusties in between the headgasket and jug its where the head gasket gets thin... also look for a little oil residue in the coolant resevoir... also the coolant cap leaked after some beating
that was caused by blow by pressureizing the coolant system... i chased everything like you plugs coilpacks dvs etc... soon as i got the head off you could see the residue where it was leaking/lifting... the passenger side did not leak/lift at all
i feel your pain bro!!

My car has almost 57k Miles. The last 8-10k miles have been over 500whp also, the last 4k with Meth.
OK, I checked the DV's today...good. I did a boost leak check...good. No exhaust leaks either. I do have quite a bit of oil on the bottom of my engine though and can't tell where it is coming from, although it does seem to be coming from the HG area. My car is usually parked most of the week and lately, I have a silver dollar sized oil spot on the floor by the right side turbo. It may very well be HG lifting. Stuck on low boost for now. I will try to get on the dyno this coming week.
Mike,
Sorry to hear that, it doesn't sound good. If it's heads lifting, can it be controlled by running lower boost that does not lift the heads or does permanent damage occur with one lift and the gasket require replacement?
Also, any idea what type of expense to repace the gaskets?
