I know we all want to push out the edge of the envelope, it's who we are and how we're wired. I only ask that you use some common sense, please. Our turbos are certified from the factory at what, 195 mph something like that? At speeds above that we're effectively test pilots. Nothing wrong with that, I've done it but you're now operating outside of the car's designed peramaters. This can mean all sorts of funny sounds, vibrations and hopefully not component failures. There is a big difference going 190-200 mph and 220-230 mph. If the cross wind component is to much or it's gusting hard then step back. You've got nothing to prove except your good judgment. Save your equipment and more importantly yourself for another day. I hope you get some good weather and have a lot of fun. Hopefully, one of these days I'll make it down too.

 

It must be something with the P cars as my Ford GT was stable during my runs today and Thursday. I could tell there was pushing from the wind but it wasn't pushing me around.

 

also, there is always a strong wind here at the Mile. It's just part of the track and conditions and it is nothing different that it usually is.

on that note I just went outside and it is cool and almost no wind. I can't wait to crack off a couple of early runs.

 

It's 5:50 am on Sat and we're about to head out...I was actually going to run my car today but after reading all of these posts, I'm going to hold out until I see the conditions myself. My car is relatively slow compared to these 200 mph cars and I can't imagine losing it at 180+!!!!! Maybe we'll run the GTR tomorrow...

winds don't gust in a consistent manner. Count yourself lucky. However, the side profile of a P-car is higher than your car so this definitely may have some effect. The P-car has a near perfect frontal shape all the way to the tail, as the tear drop is one of best aero shapes ever, but on a side gust I agree with you.

Just stay safe.
