Abs & psm
Has anyone had a problem of their ABS & PSM system disabling itself? When I turn the wheel while leaving a parking spot, I get two codes that flash (ABS & PSM disabled) on my dash.
I have taken the front wheels off removed and cleaned the sensors. This did not work.
The computer (trouble shoot) indicates trouble with both front sensors.
It just started to happen out of the blue.
Thanks
Pete

Oh boy!!! get ready for headaches!
I just had to replace my ABS/PSM unit i did everything to locate the problem but it was the unit

Does it only do it on full lock of the steering wheel?... Have you had an alignment lately or a run-in with a curb? You could have a bad steering wheel sensor. I've seen it a number of times after a car has been aligned and the steering wheel isn't put back on at dead center.
Seems to be a very common problem with these..
From what I've read here it could be caused by a NUMBER of things. This just happened to me recently. My codes read that I had a faulty steering angle sensor and speed sensor. About $1k later and 10 days at the shop waiting for parts, it did NOT fix the problem.
I was then advised by other members here to clean my MAF. I did that and it solved the problem. It was a 2 minute fix which cost me nothing.
Good thing it was a simple fix for me. There's another guy here who ended up replacing a chunk of his wiring harness to fix the prob.

Do NOT use carb clean. A MAF is not a carburetor, it is a delicate electronic device. Use a cleaner that leaves no residue like electronic parts cleaner...do a search here...
+1 for Statman. Anything from MAF to steering angle sensor to something actually in the PSM/ABS can cause this light. Get the codes read. This pair of lights could be replaced by one that says "WTF?"
I need the lights that say "WTF"....everyone should have them. I wont use carb cleaner..I talked to my mech and he said the same thing, use a electronic parts cleaner "permatex".
Well...after 4 months of trouble shooting I fixed mine. I first started with the trouble codes. It indicated right front sensor not reading. I cleaned and switched speed sensors form L-R on the front. Did not help. (there is a way to test the wheel signal....with the sensor off, put an om meter where the sensor goes and spin the rotor, you should get a pulse).
I read a post on this web site that said WIRES BREAK INSIDE THE HARNESS. Sure enough....after carfully splicing the harness open...alll the way up into the firewall...i found broken wires. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!
