Facts about Evoms Intercoolers
Facts about Evoms Intercoolers
I have the full Evoms 700 Gt kit with every supporting mod except the Evoms intercoolers with the new alpha 28 turbos. I have instead a different aftermarket intercoolers. I recently took a trip out to Az. I had my car retuned by Todd Z. We started at 10:30am and ended at 8:30pm. We must of done 30 dyno pulls. Almost every dyno pull it seemed to lose power up top.

Todd wouldnt give until he found out what the issue was. At the end we found out that it was the intercoolers. So we decided to swap my old intercoolers for the new Evoms intercoolers. Instantly we saw a 43 hp gain in top end where we before were losing power.

I have had many turbo cars ranging from a couple of Supras, two RX7,all have been modded with intecooler swaps etc. Never before have I seen such a significant gain in just swapping out the intercoolers. Considering I already had aftermarket ones. I do believe that the Evoms intercoolers are the best there is for the 996 turbo.

I am going to guess it's the Blown 6's. They are much more restrictive at the inlet and outlet. I re-manufactured the end tanks of mine by cutting off the connectors and welding 2 1/2" aluminum tubing in place of the original OEM style fittings. The EVOMS are nice units.
Here is the fitting before - It's only about 2 1/4" or less.

After - It's a full 2 1/2", same as the EVOMS IC's

I have been preaching about ICs for 4 years...
you get what you pay for period... heck, My fabricator says that at his other job 9 out of 10 cores leak at 15 psi... but the cores are from China... cheap... I mine from bell and only one out of 10 leaked and they replaced at no cost...

If you look at the dyno in my sig (GIAC has a solid fan setup and a conservative Mustang Dyno) you can see how the ECU was pulling timing with the stock X50 intercoolers. The power "stairsteps" on the way up.
I'm going back for a more aggressive tune now that I have the intercoolers and bigger Y-Pipe. But the car has gobs more power. It's not hard to tell because it's now difficult to keep the tires from spinning throughout first and second. Here are my impressions after getting them installed this week: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...s-evo-ics.html
