Question E55 or SL65

Ok, just went to look at the E55. It is a beauty. I can't afford one now but maybe next year. Plus, the O3's don't have Nav yet.

Question is, do I get E55 or SL65. My dealership doesn't have anyone on the waiting list for the SL65, so I would be first. I already have a 2 seater, so maybe the E55 is a better choice. But then again I could resell the SL65 and make a nice profit

Thanks,

Fred

you're comparing apples to oranges.

also, if you can't afford the E55 right now, you should keep in mind that the SL65 will be on the order of twice the price of the E55.

also, you can safely assume that there are 2-5 people ahead of you on any list that has no people on it. every MB dealer has a small handful of whackjobs that buy one of every car that gets written up in a car magazine. my dealer has some guys who buy more then one new benz per month, and they've been doing it for DECADES. hats off to those guys! those guys do not have to wait for cars - they get the first few regardless of what "the list" says. just something to keep in mind.

I was working at the BMW dealership this morning and saw the new 5 Series. I personally don't like the car, and this is coming from a guy who likes the 745. I felt that the interior was cheap looking, the instrument cluster was boring unlike the 745. the car also had these HUGE chrome door handles inside that looked out of place. The nose of the car is attractive but the side view and the rear looks very Hondaesque. keep in mind these were 54,000 dollar well optioned 530's. maybe the M5 will be better looking.

FredX50TT get the SL 65. The E55 is nice but the Torque of that SL 65 is going to be INSANE. My plan is to trade the E55 in on the SL 65 when they come out so my opinion may be biased just a little.

Duane...Oops...meant the S600. Too bad the 600's don't hold their value too well. Probably easier to flip an AMG car than any 600 model.

Yeah but the SL65 is supposed to be in the 180-200K US region!! E55 is rather 'cheap' in comparison...
For that money Id get an F-car...or wait for the Gallardo Barchetta (Murcielago Barchetta should be out soon...)

msindi,
That is a great point. I doubt I will have the money for the SL65 if its that much. If I do get it, I would buy it and flip it. I have done that in the past.

I also like the Aston Martin DB9. I think that will be in the $110K range.

I was maybe hoping to get the E55 european delivery to drive for Gumball ;-)

Fred - my next car is either the Continental GT, Gallardo or DB9...I htouhgt too that the DB9 was going to be 110K but latest reports suggest more in the 160K range (like the Gallardo and Bentley)...
Freakin cars are getting so expensive!!
