So I'm cruising about 75 MPH on the freeway in the FAST LANE today in an unfamiliar part of town when I suddenly realize I have run entirely out of gas. Through some serious luck, I managed to coast off the freeway, through the off ramp, made a right on a street, go 1/8 of a mile, barely cross an intersection as the light is turning red horn blaring at 5 mph and ...pull into a gas station!!!! Must be my lucky day!

Heh, I once ran out of gas sitting in the gas line! I had glanced down, noticed I needed gas, got in line, and left it running while the lady in front of me took her time. She finally left and my car died as I gave it gas to get to the pump! Had to push it the last 5 feet - I was SO lucky!

 

Same story here.. I coasted into the gas station off the highway... in my case it was the fuel tank pick up lines...

 

I ran out of gas about a click from work, had to push it the extra 100ft to work, no easy feat in an industrial park.

Isn't running out of gas a pretty bad thing for Porsches? Isn't the fuel pump cooled via gas?

 

Nice did the same on my bike once.. Exited the freeway with clutch lever in, then had to gamble right or left on the exit road, hooked a right and while the bike crawled into a gas station i was kicking on the pavement like fred flintstone to get there.. LOL
