Has anybody seen the prices of 997tt and 996tt engines lately?

I was wasting time on ebay and saw several remanufactured 997TT engines for sale there. The 996tt engines seem to be equal to or more expensive than the 997tt engines?!?! Just search "porsche turbo engine." Kinda interesting.

Thats how used parts are. There is less demand for a 997tt motor right now. Give it ten years when these motors get tired and the same 997tt motor will have a tax on it

Since the 996TT is out of production, the few pieces that are different from the 997TT make it more $$.

I thought these engines were advertised as coming with a kevlar jacket....being bullet proof and all. I haven't heard of too many folks blowing engines...at least not the guys who keep it at or under 600 rwhp. As the mileage piles up and we start seeing more of them hit the 75-100K mile mark, that will be the acid test for longevity. I fully expect a well cared for and reasonably modded 3.6L engine to hang together quite well.

It amazes me that I never give a thought to my wife's Toyota Forerunner...and it has over 100K miles on it since new in 04....and it keeps chugging along with the worst problem being replaced a set of tires at 80K!! Yeah...yeah...I know...go buy a Toyota....I'm not complaining....just noting the different mindset.

Steve: What do you mean the third time for your Pacifica? You've changed the oil THREE times in 200K miles? I know you....and I've seen your Porsche...no way you'd let something go that long....BTW...your typing is improving...the hands must be getting a bit better coordinated after the stroke. Good to see the improvement.
