Vivid Racing/Softronic ECU flash question

Hey guys!
New member here and I’m in the market for either a base or X50 996tt. Trying to plan some of the basic upgrades I want to do and came across the Softronic ECU upgrades on Vivid’s site.
Question I have is why the Softronic X50 ECU tune has the less HP (490 gain of 40HP) than the non-X50 (495 gain of 80hp) tune, I understand there are many factors and it’s an estimate but the thing that puzzles me is the non-X50 tune is at 1.0bar and the X50 tune is running at 1.1-1.2 bar, Yet producing less HP?
Wouldn’t the .1-.2 bar+K24 turbos+GT2 intercoolers X50 tune produce more HP especially at the higher boost?
I guess it comes down to if you were just doing an ECU flash the normal 996 would not only produce more HP for the same 1.5k$ flash but also be a cheaper 996 from the start.
I am sure I’ve missed something here but hopefully someone can make sense of this!

Ask your fellow Colorado brother COLORADOSILVER here his thoughts - https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...dan-vivid.html

As far as the numbers go, the X50 running the K24 turbos make more power and more boost stock. So the gain is not as much as on a K16. The gain is about 50hp crank.

I think he means he is talking about your site claiming the flashed k16 car would make more power than a flashed x50. While you are correct in saying the gains would probably be more dramatic on the k16 car, the k24 car should still be able to make more power, even with the flash, becuase of the larger turbos and ICs. Going by the number in the description, and the OP, the flashed k16 car makes 5 more hp

If you are looking at dyno sheets, yea need to get updated ones. Different variables at the time. A stock K16 car flashed with DV's and filter should be at 410awhp. A flashed X50 car should be at about 450awhp.

Will do

I understand the higher stock boost with X50, but what is still puzzling me is the engine is identical in both situations so wouldn’t the .1-.2 more boost give the X50 the edge?

X50 also has bigger turbos to go along with the bigger boost.

Vivid Racing now offers a new tuning system which you can read more about at www.vrtuned.com. We are no longer affiliated with or represent the other product.

Dan---

Might be thinking about that 24/18g upgrade soon.

Oh BTW to the OP -

The flash with the exhaust on an x-50 car does yield a substantial difference.

I have not had a X50 come through here to dyno. I have sold a TON of flashes for the X50. Every car dynos different. Gas, Oil, Temperature, etc. Here are a couple to compare. All these are done on a Mustang ALL WHEEL DRIVE dyno. A Mustang is the LOWEST reading dyno, so add 20-25% drivetrain loss to get your crank number and then subtract off of 450 for stock crank power to see the gains. Usually a flashed K16 car with DV's and Exhaust is about 410AWHP and a flashed X50 with DV's and Exhaust is 450AWHP. So these are in spec with small variances.

This is a Flashed X50 with Exhaust, DV's, and headers.

Dotted Line is a Flashed X50

Hi Dan-

If I decide to do this, I want to be sure to get the most bang for the buck.

Do you have a dyno for the 24/20g upgrade as well?

Thanks,

I have not dynoed a K24/20G here. If you go that route, then you need to really do Bosch 044 pump, injectors, plenum/tb, upgraded YPipe, intercoolers, boost controller, etc to really get the most from those turbos.
