How to mess up your wheel finish
HC, it's understandable, after all you are from Georgia.
Ok, here is my story. I was a witness, not the doer. My buddy had a 1968 RS/SS L78 Camaro. We had gone street racing and he got it airborne and smashed the oil pan on landing bad enough that it cracked. So the next morning we were going to fix it. I get to his house at 9 am and he's already under the car. I see that he's got his welding equipment, tanks etc, there and I see light coming from under the car. I asked him what he was doing and he said he was welding the hole in the pan up( he had drained the oil out). As I said, hey I don't think that is a good idea as there are fum......BAAAM!!!!! A huge fireball came from under the car and all the accessories blew off the motor. The best part was that my bud no eyebrows and all the hair in the front part of his head was burned off. So he looked like he had a receding hair line. I called him Gallagher from then on....

Yeah I've got a few bonehead skeletons in my closet too. Some actually
ones getting cars on and off the trailer.
One time I thought I might could make it up the street with my corvette on the trailer without tie downs because I couldn't find them. All it took was once slowly applying the brake and the car come sliding up the trailer almost into the back of my QX56.
The only thing that save my truck and car was I had bought a ram air scoop that attached to the bottom of the frame of the Vette, it was strong enough to stop the car or it certainly would have been in the back seat of my truck.
Who can beat that?
.
I've got more too.......

Yea, over on the track/autoX section some genius commented that they took their track day rubber marks off with brake cleaner... That stuff eats everything it comes in contact with... Do NOT put it on anything you want to retain the factory finish on.

I think this guy can...
Thanks guys, appreciate your support- times like these I thoroughly enjoy the 6speed brotherhood.
I don't remember the exact details, but there was a time down at Texas World Speedway where one of the Integra R drivers was trying to soften his street tires by soaking them in some kind of solvent, coming out of the last turn into a high speed banked straight 2 of the tires came apart, he lived but the car was seriously trashed.
Of course, he is probably talking about some porsche guy cleaning wheels with brake cleaner on some other forum :-/
