gt2/gt3 brake kit upgrade

I know theirs a thread already made by Mike Kelly, where he
contributed a lot on from myths and thruth.

I'm currenctly upgrading my brakes on my 996 TT
Al and Mike both told me how to make 350mm rear rotors to
fit with fabricating this bracket. It's made out of Alum T6061 T6

I'll be doing a test fit this weekend.

Anyways, here is the bracket. Test fitting this Friday night !

Thanks to Al and Mike!

If you buy 997TT rotors you don't need the bracket, they bolt right up.

I think in the rear you still need the bracket. Only the fronts bolt right up.

But I may be mistaken.

Heavy, you're right. You only need the bracket spacer in the back to mount the larger rear disc.

Not true. I have the stock 997TT 350mm rotors on my rears with no brackets since 2 years. You may need a bracket for rotors that are made by aftermarket manufacturers.

The Spacer is required when you use the original 996TT Caliper along with 997 Rotor... you can leave the Spacer out if using the 997TT Caliper along with the Rotor or there would be no spacer required if you had an original PCCB Caliper

I guess I should have qualified my statement by saying I upgraded to the GT3 brake system all around, and with that, there was no need for any bracket.

Hello people. Does anyone here know where I can find
Porsche yellow caliper paint thats exactly as Porsch'es PCCBs ?

Also intersting fact,
As I was reading the workshop manual, apparently the Turbo has bigger
surface pad area touching then the gt2 and gt3

Turbo:
Brake pad area front 314 cm2
rear 254 cm2

GT2

front 448 cm2
rear 248 cm2

PORSCHE yellow

Did you ever find a factory match of the yellow caliper color?

I just re-finished mine using VHT caliper yellow. I am not sure if they are a match. Mine appear to be a bit to "pastel" yellow. But I have not been able to see a factory yellow in person to verify---pictures are tough to judge color. I don't want them to be too "non-factory".

BTW--I did this years ago to my s2 cab and it was a pain to get them clean enough to paint while on the car. This time I went to Harbor Freight and bought a $79 soda blaster and got them completely clean and ready for paint (removed them first). Worked awesome. 1 hour extra paid off big.

Let me know if you find a brand that is a match..
