You buy the shift boot off ebay for $40. Then buy a 997 GT3 alcantara **** and boot. Swap the **** over to the 996 alcantara boot and install. Super easy.

confused. Did you swap the 997 know and boot over? Or just the ****?
Newb to this site but I want to mod my shifter exactly like this- Maybe stupid questions- Is the alcantara gt3 shifter directly compatible with the 996 shifter? Are there any other issues other than the boot modification?
