Will a 997 shift knob fit/integrate with 996 shift boot?

Will a 997 shift **** fit/integrate with 996 shift boot?
I'm assuming the **** fitment itself is not a big deal since so many of you (soon to be me) have 997 and 997 SSKs installed. However, I must admit I don't recall anyone having a 997 style shift **** installed, so would like to know what the problem is.
My hunch is that it won't integrate properly with the 996 shift boot but, knowing this, are there any non-custom solutions out there? Thanks for any responses.

I wanted to do the same mod but the guys at Suncoast told me that the surrounding boot is a different shape because the trim around the shifter boot is a different shape. I guess you could take the shift **** out of the 997 boot and put it in a 996 boot and re-install. The **** itself should not be a problem as far as fit goes.

Sorry, they're not pictures of my car
If you look closely you'll see the gaiterin the first picture is different to the on in the second picture
The first one has a different grain in the leather as well as additional stiching
The second picture has the stock gaiter fitted

I'm definitely quite surprised that there isn't a shift boot conversion kit offered out there, particularly since so many of us are fond of 997 update parts...seems like a slam dunk. Any vendors listening?
I really like the pictures shown above too...and might pursue this as it looks like a very nice interior update (for not much money).

Very cool stuff from Carnewal, but also way beyond my meager allocated budget for this idea.
*edit* I clicked on the carbon one at first, then saw the GT3 style one was more affordable. I sent them an e-mail for more details, and will share what I find.

Don't worry, The Carnewal stuff is 'only' a 996 gaiter and horse shoe with a 997 ****
This is exactly what yours would look like
Just get yourself the **** and fit that - job done

Some credit to the guys at Carnewal for not blowing smoke and admitting that they are simply OEM Porsche parts. Here is their reply to my inquiry.
