Talking Protomotive Full install in the UK

Guys,

So I have a 996tt 2001 tip. Got in contact with Todd K and Mark(ski) and currently my car is having the engine put back in. It should be ready this week with: -

Proto k24/20gs
Proto Full Blown Thru
Proto 5inch ICs
Proto Tune
Ford MAF
Injectors + 2nd pump
Greddy EBC
Cargraphic Plenium
Milltek 100 Cell + headers
Porsche Motorsport 6pots + fricton pads etc
Upgraded Torque Converter done in the UK by UK company who are specialists in this area

Want to say thanks to all the advice from Markski and Todd.

Whilst we had the engine out, we replaced all the oil pipes, belt, coolant tank + hoses etc.

Should get the ICs on Wednesday morning, so car should be ready this weekend.

Any recommendations on how to run this lot in. I was planning to run with the EBC off for the first 200 miles, and set low boost to just an extra 5% to ensure that the EBC is working?

We run 99 Vpower, which I think is equal to 95 in the US. We don't have the same level of access to Race Gas, but I do have access to 103.

Target for me is in the 6seconds for 60-130mph.

Thanks for your advice.

Hi There!
Good to see a UK member getting stuck into their car

Sounds like you've got a good set up there
No doubt Mark will be along soon to help you

Was the engine out for this install or for something else?

Remember to post some pics!!

Had the engine out to upgrade the Torque Converter. After my research I think the transmission should be okay (touch wood!) but the TC needed upgrading. Basically the company I found cut it in half, and strengthen all the parts (some were upgraded) and then brazened it (I think that is the right word).

So with the engine out, I thought it worthwhile to do some sensible changes like the oil pipes to the turbos and so on.

Will post some photos soon.

Good to see someone over here going for more than the normal tune and exhaust. Will you be taking it to the next Vmax ?

Here are some pictures. At least the engine looks better now.

Forgot to add that installing secondary fuel pump as well.

Neil, I will but not in time for the one shortly. My concern is that it is too soon and I really want to run it in first to make sure everything is okay.

Planning to have it in 911&Porsche Magazine and take it to a track with them to produce some vbox numbers.

It has been going on for months now re the analysis of what to do for me, and the install started 2 weeks ago, and now just the ICs to be fitted on Wednesday/Thursday plus the tune.

Just hope it is dry here in the UK this weekend!

That is what I keep telling myself every time the cash goes out the bank account to everyone involved. But if the car lives up to expectations that will be soon forgotten about.

Don't know the answer to that, but there is another tray of parts as you can imagine that I don't have any photos for.

Parr-UK are doing the install and they are taking pictures as they go along, so I should have some nice photos in a couple of days.

Makes sence to get some miles on the set up and iron out any problem with so many parts getting changed before trying top speed runs.
What coolers were you running before as they look to have already been upgraded in the pics.

Ant im not sure when the next V-Max is but there is one coming up fairly soon as i know Rod Tarry was talking about trying to get his 200+ mph cosworth ready for it.

Neil, the ones in the photos are not going in the car. I already had B6s in the car, but would have had to do a reasonable amount of welding. I didn't want to make them unuseable, so decided late last week to go with the 5inch cores from Todd K. They are bolt on so I will be selling the B6s.

I knew I was going to do the 5s, but wanted to wait a bit to keep the project cost down. However it made sense when I done the numbers to buy the 5s now, and sell the B6s.

I am more concerned now about running the thing in well because we have replaced a lot of parts etc and as you know mistakes can happen.

That said, if I get the car on Saturday, I will probably drive the car 200 miles with the EBC switched off or on low (0.9 bar), take it back to Parr on the Monday, get them to check that nothing is leaking etc, and then start to set the low and high boost settings.

Just hope I get it on Saturday now, since I have that day in my mind.
