All 996tt's start life as awd cars. Some owners have converted to rwd. I don't have any experience with the rwd conversions but if you run a search you will find plenty of info. Most conversions were made for track applications so beware that these cars while loved and maintained have most likely significant track miles. Depends on what you are looking for. Good luck.

Excellent... this is what I needed to confirm, as I definately do not wish to get my hands on a modified AWD car.

I would definately lean towards a GT2 car, but I think I need to add some serious cash to my budget if I want that sort of "luxury"

Maybe I can just get really lucky and find a low cost GT2 (or maybe I should just change my username to Impossible_GT2_dreams LOL)

If you are looking in the US $ 40K range, you won't find a GT2.. BUT.. If you can budget US $ 60-70K you can definitely find one.. Ask me how I know this..

I would really prefer a GT2, but upping the budget to those levels is definatly not an option. I guess I will have to "settle" for a TT.

UPDATE: I'm still Porscheless...... I eneded up buying a new family car instead of another toy, but now I'm on the hunt again.

I'm seriously considering having a look at this car

Any opinions?

Apparently, this car was involved in some accidents, and it has UNIBODY damage reported. Does anyone know how I can obtain more details about this? Or if I can get it checked out somewhere prior to purchasing in order to make sure that all repairs were properly done and it is FIT for the road once again?

I'd hate to purchase this and then find out that I cannot register it or make it pass a safety inspection once I get it over the border.

Any help is appreciated.

but not without considerable expense since you will need a LSD, transmission cooling, etc, etc..... if you want it done right and not half a$$..

That's alright.... I'm currently considering a GT2 as per posts #20 & 21.

Just have to figure out how to obtain the specifics that I'm after.

It's a tough hunt for that elusive TT! Patience pays off if you stay on top of prices so you feel more confident in your purchase. I also live in Vancouver and thought I would have to purchase south, and did make a couple of road trips, but in the end found my car locally for a reasonable amount with good history. They are around... it is all timing with the right seller.
