Looks like we got the final answer on the "splitter" in the 997 intercooler air intake . .

It's not there to smooth flow

So all you nubs out there with splitters on your 996tt (like me) are decreasing your intercooler efficiency

Yea, I noticed this also. I guess the 996TT stock inlet is good as is.

Honestly I think it has more to do with weight reduction as the GT2RS has the ducts out of CF to start with as well as other bits and pieces made from CF also for that specific pourpose.

Manthey actually offers a better alternative. Reduction of air intake temp by 5-10 celsius degrees:

Man that car is amazing. Does anyone think the fact that it has 620hp adds some credibility to the new engine design?

The compressors on the 997gt2 are good for a whole lot more power than the 997GT2 has, so they probably just turned the wick up a bit, but I don't think they have talked about what they specifically did to the car to get the power. I am sure more will turn up in the next few months.

Intake air intercooler

With this in-house by Manthey, developed and manufactured carbon fiber air intake, the Turbo and GT2 at Ansaufluft reduced by 5-10 degrees. This Absendkung the charge air temperature has a corresponding result in increased output.

Notes: o.g. Values are based on original data in comparison

Reading it wasn't so difficult -- the hard part is believing it. No data to back it up. I seriously doubt that it's true.

I don't know what to say but Manthey is a reputable tuner and very very expensive.
Anyway i like my intercooler splitter the way they are made by Porsche for this model, they aren't stupid

With my really poor german skills . .. this manthey unit is more then just an inlet, perhaps a larger tube and intercooler as well?

this manthey inlet part produce a ram air effect for the intercooler ....manthey is a good racing team, but this part is very expensive .....corse you get only two little spoilers for the intercooler intake
