Dension GW500 issues
I've just installed the GW500 (HW: V4 SW: 2.19) in my 2004 996 Turbo w/ PCM (HW: 2.0 SW: 3.0), and am having issues with the PCM detecting the unit (CD Changer not available). The car has an existing CD changer.
I've used Install Type 2a and I have the DIP switches as:
1: off
2: on
3: on
4: off
5: off
6: off
When I switch the unit to 'Service/CDC mode' the CD changer works just fine, so I assume the fiber is properly installed.
I've tried resetting the unit and tried to plug in various iPod units and USB drives, and nothing seems to make a difference.
Any other advice on things I can try to get it to work?

When you say CD changer I'm assuming you are referring to the 6-disc changer under the hood . . . ? I installed a GW500 on my '03 but my car does not have PCM or a 6-disc changer, just the CDR-23 (single CD player). I had to take the car in to the shop and have the 6-disc changer "enabled" using a PWIS. It's my understanding that the GW500 uses the 6-disc changer's input. At least that's the "source" my CDR23 now uses when I play my iPod.
If your car already has the 6-disc changer enabled, I'm not sure what the issue is. I'd give Eric at Bumper Plugs a call and see what advice he may have to offer.

Sorry, yes I have the 6-disk CD changer under the hood. So there shouldn't be anything that has to be enabled. I did try and do 'no-CD changer mode' (06 dip == on), and disconnected the fiber to the CDC. And while in that mode the fiber out didn't light up, but it still had the same issue.
And I can tell that it can read the USB drive because it went through a full index (LED on drive was going crazy for a few min), and when checking on a computer it has both of the GW_DBA and GW_ESS bin files.

My understanding is the Dension is not compatible with the optic loop factory CD changer. The Dension tricks the factory head unit into thinking its the CD changer. You need to take the CD changer out of the optic loop.

Ok, so unplugging the CDR and changing DIP 6 to on, and I still have the same issue.
I was initially concerned over the PCM 3.0 software version, a forum search wasn't too clear, but considering the number of people who have this thing installed, I assumed that is not an issue?
Is there anyone who has PCM 2.0 hardware but 3.0 software with the GW500 installed and running?

Not true...I have the Denison in my '04, and both the Changer and the Denison operate. Took the shop a while to figure it out, but they both work...although I never use the changer anymore...

My 03 works w/ the CDC still connected. x2 on not using it anymore Just plugged it in per instructions and it worked. DIP is same as yours: 011000
I don't get text on the PCM though (v1.0 software). Wondering if a 3.0 upgrade would fix that.
