PDK TT vs ZR1
PDK is the best thing that can happen to turbos. The throttle body never closes.
While I'm never selling my 996, I think PDK is convincing enough to make me want a 2010+ 997T. Too bad the new new engine has so much compression. We won't be seeing any 700HP+ stock bottom end cars. + the fact that Porsche decided to go back to the Metzger (996)engine in the 2011 GT2 doesn't bode well for bottom end strength.

GIAC/Champion and EVOMS both have lightly modded PDK's in the low to mid 500's. Switzer isn't sure how far he's interested in taking it right now - he's been really busy on other projects. Not sure about what Todd is doing with one.
Todd and Akram were using my friends car (Dave) to crack the code. Last I heard they were successful.
I believe that others are hacking directly into the ECU. The PDK is giving up above 580 awhp although there is software to increase that level.
Against a car with considerably more power and less weight?
I think it performed extremely well. If you've ever raced a car as fast as a stock ZR1, I think you'd change your mind.
Regardless, what the video clearly shows is that unless the ZR1 owner can:
A. Drive his car very well, and...
B. Is 100% ready for the race...
...he may get his a$$ yanked by a stock PDK TT.

PDK is mighty impressive indeed, dayum...
But who are we kidding Scott, we are "drivers", as much as I would love a PDK car it just lacks the emotion and fun....

I remember talking to a few 'journalists' who hated the electric typewriter... Said it lacked the emotion and effort of REAL journalism. I also spoke with those same journalists back in the '80's about computers being used for most word processing - they said they'd never use one. They felt like they were being replaced by a machine. They didn't need a machine to tell them how to spell, or how to make a character darker than the other by using individual pressure, etc...
I see a resemblance...

It's all about the fun, if I needed a daily PDK may probably be cool.. But my GT2 is my track car and all out fun car, it just wouldn't be the same with PDK, traction control, etc...
BTW i've had extensive time with a GTR, DCT M3, not too much with PDK but have driven it for a decent time.. I love them all and appreciate the technological advances, so don't get me wrong!

Just giving you a hard time...
I know there are preferences. The PDK/DCT/whateveritscalled will be sought after by some, shunned by others (for a while), until the stories start with "back in the day, when we had REAL transmissions, we had to operate a single clutch to shift gears ourSELVES."
(your grandchildren may watch in amazement when you show them your antique 997 that you won't let go of, because it still has a stick)
lol!

Unless you are a pro racer from the 70's-80's era where manuals were the thing, you will not be faster in a manual than a pdk. However, I am no pro and I like shifting, it is just the sports car thing to do. I know it's slower, I can live with it.
