JiC Expert needed camber
JiC Expert needed camber
I have a set of JICs on my 03 TT.
Is there a special tool to get to the bolts for the front top camber plates for adjustment ? The opening seems too small to axis .
Any body ?
Elliot.

Chuck, the JICs have an adjustable top camber plate.

you can loosen all three nuts on top. lower it down and though the center hole you can adjust it. take the wheel off for easy movement. you can also use the bar on the floor jack slide it between ur suspenion and sub frame and use your knee to hold it down. sounds kind of a PITA but once you do it its easy. hope this helps
I've seen someone wedge a wrench (or some kind of tool) in there and manipulate the camber plate while I sat in the car. You don't have to take them off to adjust them, but it's best done by a skilled alignment technician. I don't see how you could adjust the camber accurately with the car unloaded anyways, and how are you measuring it? Taking everything apart and doing it again? That seems like it would take eons.

I don't think anything with these cars is very easy!
The old '79 Chevy 4x4 I could climb up in the engine bay and sit on the battery!!!

Oh ok, I see where you are coming from now, are you talking about setting the baseline camber before manipulating the center portion of the monoball? I'm talking about the fine adjustments by pushing the monoball around. To unscrew the allens and get the set point yeah I think you may have to take it apart (depending on how much neg. camber you are trying to get).
I have -3 in the front with no other mods but the JIC's camber plates.

I wanted to bring my car back to ROW specs only lower . The alignment shop got every thing right but could not get any less than -1.8 deg camber front.
Can you push the mono ***** around with out loosening the allens?
Elliot
thanks

If they did not mess with the monoball at all I would think they are missing a few degrees of camber. With the 996's the lower you get, the more negative camber you get. Some other guys have run into this problem. I know about more negative camber not less. If you search this section you'll see that many guys have had to buy control arms to lower the car and get less negative camber.
