Help with next vehicle purchase
Yes...this was my point. I saw a guy at Englishtown last year with one. While I remember it being impressive for a nearly 600HP Cadillac, I couldn't get past the addiction the American car makers have for friggin plastic in a $75k car.
Same goes for the Z06 (as much as I love them). Great performers but horrible long-term build quality compared to the european competition.
Exactly. I remember commenting that the build quality on my 86 930 Turbo (which was not exactly stellar) was leaps and bounds nicer than my 98 C5 on the inside AND out.
I agree, that there is nothing wrong with a 4 door vette, however, if you think the V is even close in looks to an E63 or M5 with it's horrific angular looks then it is all based on bias and not reality
have you been in all three.? I have. I like the E63 and the M5, in fact if I had been offered an equal deal on both I still might be trying to make a decision, but the V was not even in the runningNot to mention the quality differential, which has been discussed more than once in review of these cars. The V may have been faster around a track but even CD and RT said the price differential is justified by much better quality in the other cars. For CD to say such with their pointed bias towards american cars says it all in my book. I'd take a 4 door GTR over the V due to it's much better build quality. Can't argue with Sabine Schmitt and her ring taxi can we.

CTT, E63, M5, C63, M3 is really where I would stay.

Bias? Where did you pull that straw from? I've owned an E39 M5 and a 745Li and loved them both dearly. I am clearly a bmw guy second to being a Porsche guy. I have Zero motivation to think the CTS-V is a better looking car than the bland E60 M5 and overdone E63. If it weren't for GM being inept and building cars that are quality for the long term, it would be the best in the group.
Bland??
lol...HC, when you put the older M5 with the new one the old one doesn't even look like an M. The new M is definitely overdone if anything. Even Jeremy laughed at it's looking like a killer shark, "look at me, I am mean, I even have a fin, I'm going to eat you" or something along those lines. I have been in tons of M cars and in tons of AMG's. I have rolled with them as well. I have even been in the E39 M5 that holds the record from coast to coast. The refinement in the AMG and M cars is so far beyond anything GM could put out, they are not even in the same league. I suggest that all be driven and it will be clear what is truly better, and it will not be the V. Not ever. YEs it is hairier in a straight line, but both the M5 and the E63 are better make no mistake. Typical GM quality control on cadillacs is about as good as it is on all it's other lines. Now if you can get a used V for half of what an M5 used goes for then we are talking.
I have a 03 E55 with a ton of mods (flash, pulley, intercooler, lowered, e63 tail lights, hid lights everywhere, carbon lip, wing, diffuser) on 20" HRE's with 61K miles on it. I'm interested in selling it if your looking for a reliable problem free E55 that is family friendly quite with mods are already done. I drive a TT too and this is a great car to go with it.
PM ME if you want.

Ya, I felt the same way after driving a 7GT3 and E92 M3.
I told the guys that were driving with us, that I thought it went pretty good...I feel bad that I lied...but I'll be OK...
I'm telling you Civic Hatchback with a B18C1... I had one try to race me on the way home last night... It literly sounded like a bumble bee trying to attack me. I had a clearing and hit it in 4th @ 60mph and he exited at the next exit. Guess he found out the Porsche wasn't stock LOL!
