Scott I think the E55 will be a home run for you. The low end torque and additional size address all of the short comings found in the M3. The E55 can be as docile as you want with the family in the car and a highway missile when you want it to be. I don't think you'll regret your decision. We've got one in the family with 65k miles and it has been bullet proof and runs harder every day.

Interesting.

What about a tuned car making 400 whp? Seems like an Xi would hook much better from a dig, considering the narrow OEM tires both cars come with. I have a truck for snow driving, so I'm more concerned with traction on dry and wet streets. Thoughts?

It does. I have an xi and there is always the debate about whether or not the xi/i is the better performance car. The i is slightly lighter and does "feel" better. However, recent tests that have been done by C&D and Autozeitung have both shown the xi faster 0-60, 1/4 mile and around a road course (Hockenheim).

As for snow traction they don't compare at all given the same tires. I live near Tahoe and this year we got over 450 inches of snow. I never got stuck once.

All that said, my new TT is now my daily driver and the XI goes back at lease end next month. There are quite a few problems with these cars and while mine was pretty reliable, I won't be getting another one. If I were to purchase a similar car again, it would be an S4. For now it is the TT.

I would say the CTT or the GTR.

Either way you can drop them off here and turn them into serious family street machines...

I owe it to myself to tell you that if you're taking the whole tribe cross-country, the Wagon Queen Family Truckster is the way to go. You think you hate it now, but just wait until you drive it.

GTS has 26K miles and running like a charm. Perfect size for a family of 4.

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with a 4 door corvette. And the V is far from ugly. looks better than m5 and e63

I like the looks of the CTS-V. I do think the E63 and M5 are both better looking vehicles, but I love the stock power of the 2009+ CTS-V and I think it looks very aggressive.

Overall, I think it's a great car. I just don't want to pay $50k for one. At that price-pont, I'd go with a used MB, BMW or Porsche.

Yeah, when you get to that price level, it's hard to settle for domestic, although I think the new V caddy is awesome, just don't wanna pay for it.

A guy I know has a CTS-V and it's garbage. Hood started bubling, U-joints in driveshaft clunk, interior is cheap plastic and is falling apart. All after only 38K miles.
