Marx,
How large and active are the Porsche clubs/forums in German?
www.elfer-club.de (my site) is not as big as elfertreff (I'd say 30-40% of the size and popularity of elfertreff), but is highly targeted at drivers of the new 911 models (993 and 996). Owners of these two 911 types make the majority of our members (50% 996, 40% 993 and 10% other 911 models).
Other big forums are the Porsche section of www.Motor-Talk.de (at http://www.motor-talk.de/f26/s/) and of course www.rennteam.com , which is very big, but not solely targeted at Germans, but at an international audience (forum language is English). It is run by a German guy though.
There is also http://www.pff-online.de/ which is pretty big too. It is targeted at ALL Porsche drivers (incl. transaxle model owners and all that) and therefore pretty big as well.
May someone complete this list or correct me if I am wrong, but I guess that these were the biggest players of that scene.

Chad! You have to promise to get your car they way you want
it to compete, and then put in bubblewrap and *then* organize
the event. I need you to completely resist any impulse to do any
minor spur-of-the-moment final tweaks like swapping in a hand-
made titanium block...

Good luck with organising it, it would be awesome, although different tuners have different goals , eg power, drivability, track-speed or top speed.
Comparisons are always fun, I spent yesterday driving mine and some friends (AdamT's) cars on a 2 mile runway with a 4.5 mile circuit that we hired for just 4 cars.
I drove my Ruf R-GT2, an APP Modifed GT2, Ruf VIN RTurbo and the best of all - a genuine Ruf VIN Yellowbird.........damn it's fast for a 15 year-old car

APP Modded GT2 (only about 520bhp) is very slightly faster
My Ruf R-GT2 was faster again.
Yellowbird was the fastest.
It was a very wet surface and rained slightly, so none of us went over about 180mph.
The Yellowbird was amazing, it's a really cute little old car, but my god does it go. It only weighs a little over a ton and this one ran 522bhp on the engine dyno at Ruf. It really grips and is amazingly stable at very high speeds. What is noticeable though is how far the interior and braking has moved on in 15 years.

cjv, will you still call your car the "biggest dog" if it loses to the competition?
I may even prep a car in time if this actually becomes a reality. What sucks is that you make comments about the "biggest dog" not being at the last 2 shootouts, but whose fault is that? Until you have proven otherwise by competing, I don't think it's fair to call KA the "biggest dog."
Besides, I think the German guys have a few tricks up their sleeves yet.
I also think that we should not limit this competition to the twin turbo based cars. There are some tuned GT3's that would definitely beat even the most tuned turbos. Koro's 4.9L GT3, for example, would probably spank all of us on a racetrack given enough twisty stuff.

hamann that is actually the 5 liter kit from koro. FVD is the world wide distributor for that kit. I am thinking about it for myself
568ps naturally asperated. Its amazing we just had it TUV approved last month. I also wanted to turbo charge the same kit but the tranny and drive shafts can't handle it we would expect that kit to be around 1000 bhp while being a daily run around.
cheers

I always think positive.
I don't take myself too seriously. If I win I win, if I don't who really cares. It won't be the first time I have eaten crow. I am a terrible loser, but a very good sport.
I guarantee you, if we finish, we will be competitive. Won't have 5.0L, but we will have 4.2L, 2.0 bar and 10,000 rpm's. Sounds like a turbocharged GT3 on steriods to me.
As for what KA has done in the past? If I talked about it, many wouldn't believe it anyway. A few have witnessed her power and handling. She puts a real big smile on my face. I haven't exaggerated what she has accomplished and have purposely withheld alot of numbers because it's not good for business. A few rather powerful cars have disappeared like specks from 120 to 200 mph. She didn't bend all six rods for a lack of power. She will eventually be at one of the formal shootouts. They would be fun, but they are not a priority. Will she win..... I don't know of any car that has won all it's races. I'm sure KA won't be any different.
The best thing about the shootout is we will get to finally meet.
Have a few drinks.
And argue about what we should have done differently.
Back to your question Tyson, "cjv, will you still call your car the "biggest dog" if it loses to the competition?" The answer is definitely yes. If she wins then she is definitely the "Biggest Dog"
and if she loses then she is the "Biggest dog". I guess it depends on how one emphasizes the words.
