German/US Tuner Showcase?

Actually, we have a couple of events going on here in Germany anyway like e.g. this event, where 9ff, TechArt, Edo und Manthey came together to fight it out.

This event took place on a Mercedes Benz Test-Track in Papenburg (Germany). Manthey did win the competition with the (by far) most expensive, toughest and fastest 996 TT (268.180 Euro = ~ 382.000 USD) of that shootout.
All we have to do ist get these guys together with the US players... et voila... off we go.

I spoke with Tim from Auto Baron last night. He is going to review this thread. Said they were in the initial stages of starting a new get together and this may have some merit.
So Marx, Bentley NPB, AMG ETR, Neil, Guy and sharkster, let's not let this dream die. I'm sure Tim and Irene will get the ball rolling. Let's get some of the top European Tuners on board and make this the event of all events.

Is there a list of tuners that will definitely join the next TT shoot-out? This would help me when getting in touch with German tuners, because if they see that other _serious_ competitors attend, then that might be a good proof of quality for the whole event.

Rob King from S Car Go Racing says it's a definite go for them. How about some of the other tuners? Speak up!

You talk like the other side of the Atlantic know who Todd, Alex and Stephen are.
How about Evolution Motorsports, Akkurat and Imagine Auto.
Hehe ok well www.evoms.com , www.imagineauto.com (I assume so), www.akkurapgi.com (we'll have something!).
Marx,
S Car Go Racing, Evolution MS, Akkurat, Imagine Auto and PSI MS are all interested. I am sure the list would double in a very short order.
I also believe there may be a few tuners in the UK who might be very interested. What do you think Guy?

I have a feeling we will be in, but can't confirm anything untill I speak with FVD Germany. Should know late this week or early next week if they have any interest in attending...
Evan
PS-Any idea what cars would be allowed (IE-996, 997, turbo, NA, etc...) Would be helpful to be able to tell them that..

Sadly probably not, the tuning market in the UK is very much in it's infancy. Most firms simply re-sell stuff from Germany (eg Techart, Sportec, FVD etc). The only firms developing their own solutions are years behind and are only currently doing simple conversions such as ecu and exhaust. I don't know of any 996s that have over 600bhp at the flywheel in the UK for example. Part of the problem is that historically tuning hardly exists in the UK and has only grown recently out of the JapCar tuning scene into the other makes. It doesn't help that in the UK if you modifiy any aspect of your car it invalidates the entire warranty (yes they can do that), so people are very afraid of modifying newer cars still under warranty.
The top cars in Europe will all belong to the well-known names, such as Ruf, FVD, 9FF, Techart, Sportec, Manthey etc, most of whom who will have US Distributors who can help contact.
Whether the US firms will want to ship their cars to Europe or vice-versa will remain to be seen I guess.
Rgds
Guy
The market is here in the US by far and the event should be here. The key is to get a BIG mag to cover it and do it up right. (car and driver, motor trend ect..)
If you get the press done right (maybe a spot on speed tv or spike) and who in their right mind wouldn't do it.

No doubt there is a market in the US, however have you taken a look at Marx's above posts regarding active Porsche forums in Germany? It appear's they are a bit more active over there.
I believe a showcase held in Europe and the US would be the ultimate.
I do like the press coverage you refer to. Wouldn't that be something. Any ideas about how to go about securing such coverage?
