The list of US tuners reads great so far... but we should wait a little longer to see who else joins in. This list is an important key when attracting the German players. We will also do our best to get the press interested... but as soon as the first bigger German tuner joins in, it should be no problem to get the real big car press magazines interested in that event.

cjv, I will stick to this dream and will do what I can to make this happen. However, it is definitely not a good idea to contact German tuners in an unorganized way, where too many questions would remain unanswered. Maybe we should have a meeting on IRC, to discuss this and all available options in detail.

there is an event every year in Hockenheim called the Tuner Grand Prix in which all the major tuners from around the world participate. This is the event that Cargraphic brought out its White and Blue GT-3 RS for. This event currently attracts tuners from all over Europe and the far east. Being that most of the US based companies like FVD,Cargraphic and PSI are affiliated with European Parent companies it would seem to make more sense that the US Tuners send the cars to that event. The Tuner Grand Prix usually attracts about 20,000 spectators and gets extensive magazine coverage in Europe, I do not know why the US mags have not covered this event in more detail. I will try and find out the details on next years event and post them here

HZ,

In my opinion, your post says it all. It covers one side of the Atlantic. All the more reason for two events, one in Europe and one in the US. Currently, the best of Europe doesn't meet the best in the US.

What am I missing here? Can't the US tuners just compete in the European Tuner GP?

That was my point .. This event is open to all who want to participate.. It may make sense to contact that event promoter and see if they would be interested in expanding that event to include a US stop. That would make the most sensee to me as that event already has a good history and is well recognized.. Either way its a pretty exciting idea..

Is it just me or do we talk of different things here? I thought that this was meant to be a way more exclusive event, than this "Audi/VW" dominated Euro Tuner Grand Prix.

It should be something limited to TTs or at least to 911 tuning companies. The Tuner Grand Prix is a cheapo tuner show off... Of course do the serious tuners join that event too, but simply because there isn't a high class equivalent. This is what I had in mind and this is how I understood the "High Rollers TT shootout". You don't want any tuned VW-Jettas around on that event... do you?

My mistake I guess. I was not aware that the Tuner GP was that sort of event. I always just hear of it relative to high end tuned Porsches.

Well, that's because only the big guys get the BIG headlines.

The Tuner GP is a friggin mega event, which attracts all kind of tuners and cars. But only the serious players get the press' attention. That's why you see so many Tuner GP photos with Porsches and high end cars. But sadly the whole event also looks a lot like this:

Don't get me wrong. The Tuner GP is a great fun event... and it's always a good place for TechART, Gemballa and other big players to show off their muscles. However, I don't think that this (/me points at the photos above) is what we all have in mind for an international tuner shootout, uhm?

edit: The photo with the guys with the SUBARU flag standing next to the Ferrari is my favorite...

Yea That's why I chose that photo. That bumper is definitely inspired by the TA bumper.

Marx,

Thanks for clarifying what Tuner Grand Prix really is and how it is viewed. What we want is a 996tt and maybe 993tt Tuner Showcase.

Maybe we should open it to all Porsche tuners and their current top of the notch tuning projects. In most cases this would be GT2, TT and GT3 RS cars. GT3 RS cars would be interesting if it comes down to handling disciplines against the TT/GT2.

Damn... this would be so cool. We seriously should think about setting up a website for this project.

Personally I would love to see the fast NA cars included...would be very illuminating I think.
