Im not engineer, But between myself and my partner we have installed and played with at least 20 EBCs on P cars over the last 10 years or so... we have played with it till no mans land... found thru testing that setting the the gain to lowest setting give you the least amount of TQ and the car isn't as responsive... but it does protect the motor... thus, on our ski850 set up I would leave the gain to 5% the lowest setting... if you build the motor then increase it by testing but but anything form 15 to 25% would probably be fine... We did a bunch of dynos also and found the same to be true....
GAIN is supposed to adjust the consistency of the boost... in other words your controlling the solenoid valve ( the sensitivity of it)...

Usually when your boost falls off in higher rpms you increase this value... when it spikes up on top you lower it...

this is as best as I describe it...

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the info.
I recon I am getting there, slowly.lol
So does that mean you can adjust through out the power/rev band. ie "map it". Too high a boost at say 4500 rpm then lower it but not enough at 5500 so increase it ??? Is that the principal.
Its the torque control that is puzzling me. Do you mean you are controlling the torque by controling boost alone or is there a data signal to the DME controlling timing and fueling etc as well.
Frank.

no its not what it does... in that case you need the a HKS that you can dial in the boost per RPMs...

Thanks Mark,
I wonder if the gain control is in fact modulation of the boost control valve.
I used to have a pectel boost control system on my Cosworth National A rally car, but is was the first gen system they made at boost control.
Basically it was a set of Air injectors ( Fuel injectors with no fuel in them) controlled by a modulator which opened and closed the injectors at varying rates to control the air bleed off and ultimately set the boost level. You could have a number of boost settings Low -medium -high. a am talking mid 1990's so things have move on I would imagine.

Just to clarify when you reduce the Torque to a safe level are you reducing the boost mid range then increasing the boost at top end.
Thanks Mark.
Frank.

Thanks Mark,
I know I went off topic, sorry for that. But you have never let us all down with your replies.

the gain control is like a slope effect, the higher the gain the faster it ramps up the boost and the lower the slower it does.

maybe that helps?

it cannot be changed throught rpm range its jsut one setting think of it as increaseing the mathmatical slope of the opening of the solenoid that controls the boost.
