I have mine for almost 4 years but I do not do the quick double pump. I usually just leave it on D, press the rocker once (or twice) to downshift and step on the gas at the same time. I found this way is the quickest for me.

I don't usually use the M mode exept driving on winding roads, where I don't want the car changes gears on me.

I hear ya. To me, the shifting speed for using the rocker and double-pump is the same; but the human time is much quicker using my thumb.

Maybe I am wrong, but I found shift down and floor it is not boosting as fast as the way I mention, although I didnt make it successfully everytime, but if I could do it in the right way, it boosts up like a rocket. And thats why I want to have a more clear procedure....

I believe you're all stock, right? With the right tune, the boost should come almost every time. Once out of blue-moon, if I feel the boost is not there, I would downshift one more gear... and the boost is there for sure.

I somewhat remember someone mentioned the double-pump would shift faster, I don't like it has anything to do with the boost.

Yes, stock with a fabspeed 100CELL installed a week ago, the throttle is lazy to me, can't wait for the flash and wake it up...
And so it may the difference that yours has been flashed, another story. Mine has boost everywhere too, but not having the max at once if just floor it.

Let me know if anyone is interested in the latest version TCU 99661818004. I bought two (long story) so have an extra...

It made my D mode so much better...it has a ton more driving programs. Supposedly it has 250 programs versus the 2001 tiptronic tcu (part number ending in .02) that has 5 programs and it also shifts quicker.

Furthermore, I believe the earlier version TCUs are not "tunable" by evolution motorsports as I they tried to tune my early version TCU, but it never worked.

The 2001 and 2002 turbos have older version TCUs. I think if you have a 2004 and most 2003s have this version (latest gen).

I just posted it in the classifieds (will sell cheaper to tiptronics that have checked in! )

yes..there is a member who claimed that if you double tap the accelerator in all the way quickly when the key is turned on and then start the engine, it would be in the quickest shift mode. I beleive he said it only works with the latest model TCU which is in all the 2004 and most the 2003s

I have a 2004... that's why I don't have the same Tip problems/issues other people complained.

My guess is... your next step will be a TCU program upgrade; you'll enjoy the 7k shifting!
