Has anyone here upgraded their rear intake piping (other than vividracingtx/BHT)?

Thanks!

I'm currently installing the Protomotive flex intake piping. I ruined my original by getting it too close to the right half shaft.

What is that? Any pics or links?

What it is made out of?

Steve Ott is currently installing my rear intake piping (and a few other things) and its taking him forever due to the tight fit with the tip combined with the high flow of my new turbos. I don't think he is going to do another one of these intakes...sorry Steve!

We are using the red silicon (steel reinforced, not sure to what guage) that Dan posted in VividRacingTX's rear intake piping thread.

I would encourage anyone to just get a blow-thru with the intakes in the fenders if you have a tip tranny.

Here's a pic of the tubing with the engine out. It's a wire reinforced fabric tube connected to a modified intake box. There are several silicon sleeves on the tubing to protect it at the really tight places.

Oh, that's what you were talking about! I concur, the setup is perfect for Tippy; but it requires a different tune and the setup is usually for high hp cars (Tippy cannot go that high). In addition, I don't think it will ever pass the Cali smog check.

Yes, have the full protomotive y-pipe with just 18inches of pipe work to the turbos

But you need this for 20g.

Works a treat.

Just for info..."Tipy's" can go that high if sent to MKB and get modded. Ken over here has had it done. Good for over 800/900 bhp I believe !!
Bit expensive though.

Thanks Frank, I know that MKB can strengthen the Tip. I guess it is fair to draw the line on high HP cars at 1000 crank. I'm wondering how the MKB mod can hold up at that level.

With all the mods that I have, I know I'm right around 700 to the crank; is it worth it to invest the exxxtra money on the engine built, tippy built, and turbo kits just to get to 800/900? If I have a 6 speed, I may give it a consideration; but I would never do that on a Tip.

Yes, I think 900 bhp and over is too much even for the MKB tip....Ken over here will know. MKB do a good mod and to be honest I'm not too sure a 6 speed will be totally bullet proof at 1000 bhp. Mind you at those sort of HP I think its a bit of luck as well. Any weakness will be well and truly exploited.

I don't understand this "problem" of the people with the tip, what is the price for a good clutch kit for an 6speed and what is the price of the strengthen tip?

1k more for the tip or 2k?!
