996 GT2 dead...

Hi Everyone,

So the story goes like this; a couple months ago, I picked up this beautiful 996 GT2 with low mileage from a local dealer here in Montreal. I started hearing what sounded like knocking about 2000km after picking the car up. Very faint, but still there. I brought the car into the dealer seeing as i had an extended warranty. Left the car there for a week and picked it up and everything worked smooth as can be.

Then last week on the highway on my way into the office, knocking started again (this time louder ) and seconds after the car stalled...A tow truck later and a taxi ride and the car was at the dealer again.

To make a long story short, after speaking with the manager about how I am extremely unsatisfied about the car, it looks like I will be taking home a 2008 997 GT3RS

It's silver and orange and I can't wait to hit up the track with this car! Pics to come in about a week!

That's too bad, that GT2 was stunning in red.

I'm sure the GT3 is quite the looker as well.

Oh you're such a tease! What was the issue with your GT2?

I'm glad everything worked out but it's a shame your GT2 is inop.

Sorry about leaving you guys hanging like that lol. It's been a busy couple of weeks .

I'm not going to name names of the dealership not to stir anything up (seeing as they ultimately resolved the issue), but it seems as though it was an oil pump failure. I'm not sure what they did (or did not do) when I brought the car in, but it did the noises did stop for a while...Maybe added some thicker oil...I don't know.

All I know now is that everything has been resolved! I might be up in Mont-Tremblant this weekend so I may get a few track pics for you guys come next week

One quick question though while we're here. I was having a shop here in Montreal design a custom shifter setup for me for the 996 GT2. Now I'm just wondering if it will fit in the 997 GT3 RS? It's a full assembly replacement so I'm just wondering if the 996 and 997 are similar in terms of shifter assemblies. Thanks for the help as usual guys!
