Took my car to the dragstrip tonight...
...on 19" street tires (315/25/19 Contisportcontact3s) and 100 octane.
I missed a major track rental at MIR earlier today, so I decided at the last minute this evening to drive 2 hours to Richmond Dragstrip to attend Friday test-and-tune. I arrived at 9:15 pm, and they close at 10:00pm...but I figured I had plenty of time to get a few runs in.
Unfortunately, they had closed the Tech area at 9:00! (I never go to Richmond so I had no idea). Anyway, totally frustrated, I ended up walking into the tower and pleading with the guy. When I get there, I can tell right off the bat that the lane guys are annoyed that I was able get a tech card late (understandably). I sincerely apologized for my error in being late and told them I really appreciated them taking to the time to tech it out for me. Guy looks over my car and finally asks me "what do you think it'll run?", I replied "maybe high 11's on these tires, at best". He waves me through.
With no time to even lower my tire pressure, I drive around the water box, stage and wait for the green. I hit in 1st, and spin. I let off, shift to 2nd, hit it..and spin. Dammit!! I go into 3rd, spin!! At this point I'm thinking its my clutch, not my tires. Finally, somewhere near the 1/8th mile mark, my car finally hooks in 3rd and I end up getting into 4th before the traps. I get my slip, and immediately start to laugh!
60' - 2.48!
1/8th E.T. - 9.024
1/8th MPH - 98.00
1/4 E.T. - 12.81
1/4 MPH - 134.6
I picked up 36 mph on the back half!
My buddy said it was my tires that were spinning, which was a relief. Much better than a slipping clutch. They pass over the PA they are doing one more run, so I get in line. Once I finally line up, I'm literally one of the last 2 cars to run. I left in 1st as easy as pie (1/2 throttle), short-shifted into 2nd (1/2 to 3/4 throttle), short-shifted into 3rd, and finally stomped it at 4.5k or so. A bit better this time:
60' - 2.33
1/8th E.T. - 7.98
1/8th MPH - 107.9
1/4 E.T. - 11.59
1/4 MPH - 140.0
Picked up 33 mph on the back half on this run. Peak boost was 1.62 BAR.
All in all, it was a good time and I'm thrilled with how my car performs. On DRs, with better fuel, more boost (1.8 BAR), and a cooler day, I think she might have another 5-7 mph in her. I just need to get a hard launch and get my 1/8th mile MPH up.
Oh, one last thing. On the way home, I did a 3-way roll-on with a sportbike and a modded Civic with a big FMIC. I expected the bike to whoop the Civic, but surprisingly, I could tell in my rearview mirror that they were very close! Fast little Civic.

Ha ha...I was honestly laughing out loud in my car when I saw the slip.

Nice mph Scott! I know more power + your driving is going to give you same excellent results!
Is your track pretty cool about no cages and stuff? My local one is a ***** about it. Luckly Sealy is an hour and a half away and is a little leniat

I've GOT to share my story in comparison to your's... I was going to make a thread in the GT-R section, but I feel the humor would be left behind:
I planned on Wednesday, that I'd drive 15 minutes down to my local drag strip (unfortunately the day after I topped off with fuel) two days later (Friday night). I showed up while tech was open (a joke at Fayetteville), got my sticker, and lined up with a 2011 Cobra GT500 on slicks.
When I pulled up, I drove around the waterbox as best as I could, put all of my switches in 'R', pressed the brake, pressed the accelerator, watched the lights, then I released the brake. As my car went down the 1320 by itself, I checked my hair in the rear view, had a sip of Coke, took a short nap, and woke up 11.5secs later...
I had three runs:
60ft 1.911
1/8 ET 7.558
1/8 MPH 97.32
1/4 ET 11.59
1/4 MPH 121.79
60ft 1.934
1/8 ET 7.582
1/8 MPH 96.77
1/4 ET 11.61
1/4 MPH 120.81
60ft 1.885
1/8 ET 7.530
1/8 MPH 95.50
1/4 ET 11.58
1/4 MPH 120.06
You practically set your watch to my runs (but I don't have nearly the HP you do).
I was going over the time-slips for my last P-car at different stages of power, and I think I now know pretty much where this car will fall out with some Drag Radials at 1.8 BAR. I won't say exactly what I suspect it will do, I'll just leave it as 10.XX @ 14X.XX.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to find out next month.

Nice trap speed. We all know it's a rocket. Damn 2WD turbo 996's...
I think that's a great idea, bro. I do have a set of Mickey Thompson DR's on 18" wheels, but I'd prefer to keep my 19's on the majority of the time. I think the R888's may be my next tire.
