I am going to be doing my clutch soon, and I am also doing the GT2 slave conversion.

I saw that some people just use the GT2 clutch line and some others said the OEM line is not long enough and has to be extended.

I am planning to do this over a weekend so I dont want to get stuck - not being able to put everything back together.

Did the OEM GT2 line work for you or did you need to extend it? IF you made your own - what connections were used?

I took my GT2 line to my local Tubes n Hoses and had them convert it to SS braided, Teflon coated. I had them make the overall length 20" based on the following post: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...tructions.html

I am going to start the install Monday so I should have some feedback next week regarding the length.

 

Nice - thanks for the input. What did they charge you for the job? That is the post that I was referrring to - seems like others get it to work without extending it.

 

$28, plus the original GT2 line. I wanted to have all the parts together before I started the job. I may have another SS line made from my stock line. It can't hurt to have on hand and I could always sell it to recover some of the cost of the conversion.

In my research, I came across a couple reports of seepage at the ends, because the line was stretched to fit. This is one of those things that I want to do right the first time. I should know next week if the 20" total length is accurate. The hydraulic tech said I could bring it back to shorten or lengthen for a nominal fee.

 

great ! thanks for the info. I am the same way - I dont want to start and then find the line being to short.

now i jsut need to find a shop that is able to do the line for me.

 

Omni Hose did mine - it's a chain with many locations in the Northeast.

Pelican Parts has it as well for about 20$ more.

 

If you don't lengthen the hose to the stated 20 inch overall length you can't use the factory hangers and the gt2 oem line would work JUST, but the tension on the hose was toooo tight and you had to let it hang freely. I just didn't want to take the chance and I could definately see the oem hose failing at the ends. You will see when you get in there. Plus having everything ready up front will help with not having any unnecessary down time. Trust me I wrote the giant post regarding this build and install. If you have any questions let me know I will help the best I can. Good to see some guys willing to jump in.
Little added security I forgot to mention, put a little blue locktight on the new bolts holding the slave to the bracket and the bracket to the tranny. I don't think the bolts could ever vibrate out, but why take that chance. Good luck, but you won't need it
