OEM 996tt and OEM x50 exhaust difference?
Anyone know if the OEM exhaust on a 2003 996tt with the x50 package is any different than the standard 2003 996tt exhaust? I read somewhere that the x50 package includes different turbos, intercoolers, exhaust and possibly a strengthened tranny (which I believe is not the case). Thanks in advance.

Absolutely sure it is the same exhaust. Not even slightly different. Same part numbers.
GT2 exhaust IS different. Just slightly, one less baffle.
(Transmission difference has been long debated, and pretty much settled as 'no different'... although one tech has reported that every once in a while an X50 tranny had different syncrhos... really makes no sense, but that's the report,)

small difference and different part numbers for X50/GT2 muffler and stock...but what i have read in porsche manual is that it is a difference betwenn europe an us muffler...us have different cat with more cell to get the" lev" standard
it is not worth to buy a X50 muffler better do it right at first and take a aftermarket exhaust

I have an X50. The muffler has the same part number as the 996TT muffler in the 2004 USA PET catalog: 996.111.027.75
The GT2 has a different part number: 996.111.987.72
This appears to be the same for 2001, 2002 and 2003
Perhaps europe is different, but this data is USA as is the OP.
If someone has actual data supporting the difference between X50 and stock, I'd love to see it as I have an X50 in the barn I could sell as an "higher performance stock muffler'

GT/X50 has less backpressure on exhaust side..but 2 cat on each side...dont waste time about this muffler...get a good us aftermarket and you should be happy

I don't think there is any difference at all in the entire exhaust system when comparing a 996TT and a 996TT-X50 or Turbo S for that matter. I have not found any articles or sources that have said otherwise (although I am not an expert myself). It is my understanding that from the headers, to the mufflers, cats, piping, and exhaust tips I think they are the same when they come out from the factory for US market cars.

OEM or ODM and OBM.Daytime running lights (DRLs) are a low-cost method to reduce crashes. It can improve the noticeability and detectability of vehicle in the central and peripheral fields of view.

I thought that the US 996TT and the US 996TT X50 have the same identical exhasusts and tips...this was said by several folks...what's the difference between your '04 X50 muf/cats setup and any other non-X50 996TT setup??

Hate to drag up an old thread but I just found something very interesting. I swapped out my exhaust on my 2004 TT X50 quite a while ago for an aftermarket unit, and I'm finally getting around to selling it. I looked up the part numbers and guess what? My exhaust has the GT2 part number. So what does that mean?

Which part number?
I guess I'll need to drag mine out of the barn this weekend and look...
