Which oil collector pan for DIY oil changes?

So it sounds like popping the plug on the "Oil Tank" results in a pretty large, and fast, oil flow. Some people have said that their pans have almost overflowed due to capacity, and others said that the pan was large enough, but the funnel was too small and the oil almost overflowed because it couldn't drain in to the collector fast enough. Bottom line, can anyone reccomend a drain pan where I can both drain the car, and then get to transfer it back to bottles for disposal without an Exxon Valdez/BP situation in my driveway? Brand names and model numbers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Very good product...

I used this one and finally found something perfect to prevent driveway flood.... I am located in Montreal but I am sure you can found something similar. It hold over 4 gallons... Wedco pan model W76

I cut the top off an old plastic trash can, having high walls is the key to prevent splashing. Just jack the car up and find a 8 gallon or so trash can and cut the walls down to size.

My walmark oil collector does OK, but still I always make a mess, last time I used an empty bucket of Whey protein for the crank and the oil collector for the tank

Thanks guys. How do you guys who uses buckets get rid of the oil? (Or do you not want to say because the E.P.A. may be monitoring this board?) How do you pour from something with no spout without making a mess? The funnels I use to put the oil into the bottles of the new stuff I just poured in aren't that big.

Actually I pour all my dirty oil into the whey protein bucket and take it to the closest pep-boys, they recicle oil for free... I always ask for the empty bucket back so I always have it ready... I have used in the past empty platic milk bottles, juice botles, etc...

I use old kitty litter containers- the self clumping kind my wife gets at costco has a 3" diameter screw lid, holds 5 gallons. I have about 8 old containers and hit recycling a few times a year.

Avoid oil collection pans by BlitzUSA. The quality of their plastic containers are so sub par, they should be embarrassment to sell them.. Oil leaks out of every cap and opening.

As for oil disposal, my local recycling center takes it in...
