Red face help with gas sensor???

My friend has a turbo cab with a small issue......Is this common?

My car is in the shop. The valve in the gas tank is broken-it will not
> allow any gas to be pumped in because it senses it that the tank is full
> This is Second time in 4 months Išve had it in the shop for the same
> problem. They have to take the whole front end apart again (its all wheel
> drive). Its crazy! Have you ever heard of this? Last time they took it
> apart they also screwed up the PSM sensor so now that goes off every time I
> drive.

Thanks for lookin

Jim

my turbo doesnt let me fill the tank it usually stops at 3/4s full. Is that the same problem you are having or can you not put any gas in? If its the same problem as mine then its pretty common cause I knew a few turbos with the same issue.

I think most recommend turning the pump handle upside-down when putting in gas to get maximum input into the filler to trip the flap to open.

yea I dont even know how big the gas tank is yet cause its never filled up the whole way but I ve only had the car two months. My friend takes the nozzle out when it stops, then puts it back in and fills up, and again repeats when it stops. I usually fill up at a quarter tank so if i put in 8-10 gallons its good enough for me.

I had the same problem. Fix for me is lift the handle while filling up on gas. Always fills to max now.

Same problem here, could never fill up to full without it clicking. I usually hold the pump upwards and it usually works.

Same thing happened to me today. Drove into the gas station with only half a tank left. Put the nozzle in and got half a gallon in before it overflowed. Kept taking the nozzle out and adding fuel. Did this 8 - 10 times but only got another half gallon. Any suggestion. This is a pain in the a**.

Go to this link. There are a host of potential issues listed, fuel filler is near the bottom.

The best solution that worked for me is to have the gas pump handle point at the 9 'o clock position instead of 6 'o clock position (downward) when filing up.
