Need to replace my PCM 1 system...
I have been trying to get my ipod interface to work with my nav unit and have had no luck. I normally do not play CDs, but I tried the CD changer/player to see if it would work. My thought was that seeing the ipod interface uses the CD changer input on the nav unit, this would tell me if the radio part is bad or the interface for the ipod. I found that my CD changer doesn't work properly either. The PCM recognizes the CD changer but when trying to play audio it cycles through all CDs and eventually shows "no CDs" when selected. So neither are working. I like the OEM setup for it's clean stock look and do not want to go with an aftermarket unit if I don't have to. Does anyone have a spare PCM1 unit they want to part with? Will the non-nav becker radio unit work in place of the PCM 1? If so what all is involved with the retrofit? Thanks.
I replaced my head unit with a Pioneer AVIC 120BT. In the long run, it would probably be simpler for you to do the same. To change the head unit (with another PCM1), you would also have to change the AMP (because of the security code) and it sounds like there may be a problem with your CD player, so you may have to change that too. I paid about $1,800 for the pioneer and $200 for the install kit from Loi at Euromotorspeed on EBay and added SAT radio and IPod interface for a few more bucks. The new head unit gives you all the interfaces you could possibly want - your IPod would be very happy there.

I had a similar problem with my cd changer. If you have a regular cd or nav cd in your pcm unit, remove it, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, and reconnect it without the cd in the pcm. Put you cd's in the changer and see if the cd changer now functions properly. This solved the malfunction for me.
I did a search for this and this thread came up,, ive got a couple of questions you guys may be able to answer, I pretty much understand the best way to do it is to go with the kit from Loi and I have this saved, is it literally plug and play? I have a 2002 Turbo with the Bose system and PCM1 not the PCM2 MOST system, I presume I can just take out the CD multiplayer as I will use MP3.

You must have a 6 disc CD system, I was confused with the CD holder so edited my post accordingly.
