BCS996TT is infamous around these parts
Sunroof Rattle

Has anyone else experienced the dreadful sunroof rattle when going over bumps (only when sunroof is open or tilted upward)?

It just started happening about 1 week ago...not sure if there's a fix or if it's something that I have to deal with for getting the sunroof???

Thanks

When my '02 996TT was new a year & a half ago, one of the adjustments that had to be made on its first service call back to the dealer was noisy sunroof. The dealer installed some sticky-sided felt strips to cushion the parts that were buzzing when next to each other when the roof was open (it was silent when the roof was closed). Has been flawless ever since .... forgot I had that problem until your post. Should be an easy fix.

I get a rattle in the headliner only when the roof is open (not tilted). It sound like the brace that goes from pillar-to-pillar is moving. Anyone else exp this?

This happened in my 996TT as well. I spent an hour or two in my garage inserting foam tape in strategic places inside the headliner, and the rattles went away permanantly.

Mine currently does this. I'm going to try this out and see if it fixes it.
