Intercooler Cores

Who is currently making the most efficient IC cores for the 996tt?

The reason for the question is we are about ready to purchase a better set for KA.

Does not one need the other. If the motor flows a certain number and yo restrict the flow you would lost power. The greater the IC's delta between ambient temperature and delivered air temperatures the more air that can be compressed into the cylinders when added to more fuel equals more power.

I believe you need to maximize both.

For the best of both worlds I would agree, but totally depends on your application and how your car is setup. K16's I would go for more cooling since flow probably won't be an issue, but heat will be, for example.

Also, if I am doing track time I would want more cooling, drag racing I would want more flow since heat soak is probably not a big deal at less than 12 seconds...

We have been doing a lot of research. Yes, the Secan's have a reputation. They are hard to obtain information on. The are mostly an aerospace company.

We have been looking at a company called CTR. Trying to find out more about their cores ...... however the big thing I like about them is their tank principles follow everything I know about IC's that is good. I also believe their pricing to be fair.

These IC's are for KA. She will be used on street and track. Her mold is is a little different than a K16 setup. She uses GT35R's ...... however with a 4.4L displacement, radical race cams and six 48 mm throttle bodies she responds much like K16's with their smaller displacement. You would think with all the above we would be running hotter, however with the much larger oiler liner squirters, GT1 oil pump, ceramic coated pistons, combustion chambers and exhaust ports. etc. .......... the head temps during operation are about 800 degrees below the operating temperatures of a stock 996tt.

She will be running more than twelve seconds and thus the requirement for as good of IC's as can be provided.

It stands for "Killer Angel", his transcendent expansive
buildup of a super car based on the 996tt.

Thanks for the help Joe. The purpose of this thread is to see if we have missed something in our search for replacing our IC's. The tank design is equally if not more important than the core. It appears the better ones are coming from Europe. I'm hoping to find a comparable one made here in the US.

FWIW, CTR uses cores from HS Marston.

Evoms has a new core which happens to be terribly efficient on their 1300+whp997.I am not at liberty to say much more other than a set will be on my car soon and we will undoubtedly be able to tune my car more aggresively and still keep the motor in the safe zone.Maybe give Todd Z a call and he can fill u in.
