K24/18g DIY upgrade

I see alot of companies offer the k24 18g upgrade

anyone have the partnumbers needed to upgrade a standard k24 into a k24/18g?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Turbo-Compressor...item4aa2c9a8b1

what types of machining methods are necassary?

I'm not trying to be cheap, but i'm a DIY type of guy, and i have access to machine shops, just curious if these would work?
any other peices parts required?

Check with the tuners here. I'm sure someone has a holiday 24/18g special or search for a used set.

I like your philosophy, I too like DIY. But I am sorry to say you just cant go building turbos yourself. They have to be finitely balanced and run up on full oil pressure to 150K or more rpm's. There is a special machine for doing this. To give an example of the accuracy needed to balance a compressor or Turbine. If you were 1 gramme out at the tip of one blade, at 150k rpms that would exert aproximatly 10 tonnes of centrifugal pull. The turbo would self destroy.
Best leave it to the experts.

do you have k24 turbos now?

if so send em to blouch and for 1200$ you get two refurbished turbos with clipped turbine wheels new compressor wheels balanced properly and ready to go.

Definitely not a DIY thing. The install and injectors and all that is good to go on your own. Actually machining, balancing, building, and testing your own turbos would be nearly impossible without all of the proper tools and machines. Not to mention the years and years of knowlede R&D and trial and error that goes into these builds.

That being said, if you were to DIY and get it right and correctly working, well, huge props for the sheer cojones to try it. you should get a medal or something if you ppull it off.

Anyway, don't. Leave it to the pros. Get your k24s sent out and upgraded for $1200.00 and have the piece of mind that they're not going to expload onn you.

the compressor has to be balanced perfectly on the shaft. if it is not, the fins can hit the housing break and get blown right through the TB into the engine. its worth paying Blouch or Forced Performance for a quality rebuild.
