Engine removal thread....
Search for more than 2 hours without any luck.... One of 6speed member took out the engine in his garage. I remember he had the back of the car up in the air with two floor jacks and the engine was on the ground. I remember also that he had the cam timing done at the dealer because of cam tooling too expensive. He also found little wear on his intermediate shaft bearings...Can you help me to locate this thread..... Many thanks, J.P.
I just looked at the first page on that thread and that looks like a very scary way to drop your motor. Lifts are cheap. And I think Baum tools sells the tools needed for the cams now not sure about the tool for the piston/ sleeves though. Good luck.
then when that day showed up they said one of the other dealers in the area needed it and then the blah blah started.. I bought my own through a dealer out of the country as no one had a part number or even would return a phone call about it. Even two cup teams I know could not get the tools. They send their motors back to Porsche motorsports. Well now that's behind us..
Do you have a list and part# of tools needed.... I guess your kit did not include the cam timing tooling ?

Thanks a lot it would be really useful. I got no luck with Baum. I am trying to get the catalog and never got any answer... Last fall, on my last oil change, I have found some metal and bronze flakes. Not too many but enough to alarm me and now I would like to be ready for an eventual engine deep dive... Thanks again for your help, J.P.
Not a problem .... better be safe than sorry. A rebuild with the motor ''alive'' would be much cheaper than a blown motor or spun bearings.
How many miles are you at right now, and what kind of power do you make ?
