Best 3 performance upgrades 996tt

another fun thread back from the dead...
1 Bar tune, exhaust, shifter still rank pretty high. I am now 2.5 years into ownership and I did all of the above, plus sway bars and lighter wheels with sticky tires.
Totally transformed the car!
PS...does 100 octane count as a mod?!?!

hi,i started from a stock 996 turbo also.first i read alot, monitored this forum and made a lot of calls.all to educate myself....i said to myself that i was going to do "just" the simple stuff"only"......i have owned and modified all my past porsches and stareted out with that same theory....but as you know that these cars have too many options available.....i think the top 3 for the fun of driving it every time, know matter where, are,,,flash, exhaust and short shifter........but then be warned that you most likely will catch the disease ,,,,,,never satisfied and wanting more.........lol........enjoy......

Definitely a fun thread to have back. So much has changed over this time. Sadly we have lost a few members (one whom posted in here), seen some vendors come and go and some members got burned, and there's even more available to do to enhance the cars further now. The cool thing is the main opinion has not changed for the most part. Tune, exhaust and then pick your poison. Some more handling? Wheels? Or more engine stuff. Or of course a better cupholder ha ha

In my 8th year ownership, nada drag racer, I like the canyons and occasional 150+ MPH runs. For me the best 3 mods were:
1) RWD conversion, removal of front diff, axles, and cardon shaft.
2) Coilover shocks with adjustable ride height, adj. R upper dog bones, adjustable rear sway bar
3) Lighter custom Wheels
and next would be:
4) B&M/996 SSK reduced throw shifter
I'm still on un-modded motor, stock original clutch, original brake pads and rotors, OE exhaust. My car's a lot more enjoyable to drive and has been my least modded vehicle that I've kept this long. I was actually happy with it stock except with the AWD.
Another nice thing is when time comes to sell, I can convert to 100% OE stock in a weekend.
