Help no start!!!
hey everybody! So im working on a 2002 996tt with the vividracing 650 kit on it. this car has had problem after problem with boost leaks in the past. The customer has had this car for the past 5 months with no problems, two weeks ago it gets towed into the shop for not boosting. i drove it around and found that it would only go to .4 bar..ok no big deal i would do a boost leak test find the leak and get going on it. Well i did the boost leak test found some leaks fixed them all. Test drove it around and it was running great..boosting up to 1.2-1.3 bar. Let the car sit out side for the rest of the day, went to go pull it inside the shop and it started missing. It was the end of the day so i just decided to look at it the next day. Came in and tired to start it and it wont fire..it trys to but wont..hooked up durametric to it and found misfire code 507, misfire number two cylinder code 510, and code 39 immobilizer. today i was going to pull the plugs and check the coil packs on the drivers side and once again check for any boost leaks. if anybody could help me fix this cursed 996 that would be GREAT!!!!!!
Fault code 39
Signal converter faulty
Diagnostic conditions
• Terminal 86 S or terminal 15 on
Possible cause of fault
♦ Short circuit to voltage/ground or open circuit in the wiring
between the alarm system control module and the signal converter
Affected terminals
Plug A, terminals 3 and 4
Diagnosis/troubleshooting
Work instruction
Display OK
If not OK
1 Check power supply of
the signal converter
♦ Switch off ignition
♦ Pull plug off the signal converter
♦ Switch on terminal 86 S
♦ Measure voltage between plug
on the signal converter pin 5
and ground
♦ Measure voltage between the
plug on the signal converter pin
5 and pin 4
> 11 V
⇒ Step 2
Repair wiring harness
2 Check wiring from signal
converter to alarm system
control module for
short circuit to ground
♦ Switch off ignition
♦ Pull plug A off the alarm system
control module
♦ Measure resistance between
plug on alarm system pin 3 and
ground
♦ Measure resistance between
plug on alarm system pin 4 and
ground
∞ Ω
⇒ Step 3
Repair wiring harness
→ End
3 Check wiring from signal
converter to alarm system
control module for
short circuit to B+
♦ Switch on ignition
♦ Measure voltage between plug A
on control module pin 3 and
ground
♦ Measure voltage between plug A
on control module pin 4 and
ground
0 V
⇒ Step 4
Repair wiring harness
→ End
4 Check wiring from signal
converter to alarm system
control module for
open circuit
♦ Switch off ignition
♦ Measure resistance between
plug A on control module pin 3
and plug on signal converter pin
8
♦ Measure resistance between
plug A on control module pin 4
and plug on signal converter pin
6
< 5 Ω
⇒ Step 5
Repair wiring harness
→ End
5 ♦ Replace signal converter → End

Wow thank you guys for the responses!! for an update i said that i was gonna pull the plugs and look at them, well they were all fuel fouled and black as can be. I have replaced them all as well as number two coil pack just incase cause i had a misfire on the cylinder and i dont want to take it apart again. Now i havent started it just yet, i found another boost leak when i was testing it so im in the process of fixing that. Ill go ahead and check all the things you guys said just to be sure!! thanks again for the help
ok i got all the boost leaks fixed and plugs changed out..started it up..runs pretty good but out of the corner of my eye i see that everytime i hit the gas it blows black out the pipes..now im not driving this its still sitting on my rack...looks like its running rich. The only thing that was changed fuel related was the fuel pressure regulator, it was changed out for a 5 bar one. could this may have gone bad? i was gonna check to see if the line off it came loose or off but other than im open to suggestions!!

use superglue on the rubber to plastic hose then a small zip tie on the hose to regulator, common problem. Fuel wet plugs is a intake track leak post turbos. MAF is reading air flow but it is not being in jested and the fuel for it is being dumped in. pre turbo is a lean condition.
