Remote Cab top operation....?
Remote Cab top operation....?
Who has gotten the Euro key and has had their dealer program the Remote Cab top operation feature?
This feature is listed in the US owners manual and supplement but we don't have the key with the button.
I can get the key from Germany for about 80 Euros but the dealer tells me they can't program the feature on a US VIN car.
Like with everything else - I know that there is a way to get it done but I'll have to tell the dealer (step by step) how to do it.
Any ideas?

There are legal/liability reasons porsche won't allow this to be done on a USA car. (which is why it doesnt come with the feature in the first place).
they may have gone an extra mile and made it so USA VIN cars cannot get the programming done using the PSW/PST2 computer.
even if it can be done, you will be hard pressed to find a dealer that will do it for you as they will get a heavy lashing from porsche.
i think the above is former is true, and that USA VIN cars are unable to be programmed with this feature due to the computer refusing to do it.

Zorro - do Canadian spec cars have that feature?
I can state that based on personal experience wrt air bag deactivation that PCNA may be one of the most risk averse companies I've ever run across (I'm an in-house lawyer). Frankly I was shocked that the newer cabs now allow top operation at low speeds (vs the former parked requirement). The risks of that seem far higher than remote top operation.

since the USA is a society that is eager to litigate, and will do so on the drop of a dime, porsche is probably afraid of someone hurting themself or someone. i know its stupid, but thats the sad society the USA is.
Moogle, on Rennlist you said just the opposite.

Thanks for all your input.
So it sounds like nobody has tried to program a euro key, right?
If that is the case I'll jump in and invest the $120 to get one shipped from Germany.

Maybe you could get a generic key blank, but you will still have to get both the laser cut and the RFID match for your car, and unless you are down with Tony Soprano that probably puts you back at the dealer, with the same problem we started with.

So how's that gonna' work? The key has to be specific to your car(the laser cut and the RFID), right? I hope Porsche won't just ship a key to anyone with a VIN and $120.
