Locked out of gas tank!

So I went on a trip and left my keys at parents house. Ended up getting dropped back to my house where I only have a spare key that does not remotely lock/unlock. I can drive the car since I can manually unlock with the key. Problem is I can't unlock the gas tank since the manual unlocking of the door doesn't open the pin which is holding the gas tank closed. Other than driving over to get the key that works, is there a manual unlock for our gas tank covers?

jakeskiny is infamous around these parts
Open the passenger door... at the top of the door jam under the A pillar, there is a circular ring... pull it straight out about an inch and that should unlock your gas cap cover.

This is also outlined in your owner's manual if you have it around.

Hope that helps.

Open your passenger door and at the top of the jam up underneath the top of the right front fender is a circular pull on a wire. It is the opener for the gas door in situations like yours.

I found it! there is a pull wire hidden toward the top of the passenger door.

Thanks--

I wonder whether the lock/unlock button in the car (on the dash) would work too?

That lock/unlock button on the dash doesn't open my gas cap cover... I try that every time. One of these days, I'm going to pay the $300 and just fix my key fob.

OK -- just an idea. I actually have the opposite issue -- the gas cap doesn't always lock because the locking pin probably needs to be replaced. Not really an issue so I haven't bothered with it.
