Never heard of this kind of problem. In the wiring diagram, I can see, there is only two wires coming from the reservoir oil level sensor and going into the instrument cluster. May be there is a fault that a Piwis or Pst2 can locate. On the pic you can see the location of the sensor on the tank....But in your case there is a logic that is not working properly, I guess..... Engine temperature is over 180 F ?

Remember if you got oil temperature indication that mean the temp sensor work...For the location, it is behind the oil filter.

Sorry about that. I was thinking of a function you can found on PST2 or Durametric....If there was a failure of the oil temp sensor I wonder if the computer would pick it up??? If you don't have access to a PST2 or Durametric , replacing this sensor is your best option....

I noticed the wire has only one line , is there any grounding for this wire , does the sensor send the read to the cluster or to the car computer ?

I assume like most sensors the ground is through the outer body/engine case.

I am not sure about the issues with the sensor, but in regards to your question about a manual way to check the oil... There is a dipstick, the engine oil can be checked just like you would on any other motor.
