Add Another One To The Blown Coolant Hose Club

Was in Mexico last night and went head to head with a Shelby GT500. From a dig, I beat him by 1-2 car lengths. From a roll, it was dead-on. After the third run, I looked behind and the car was spewing coolant. From what I understand from reading previous posts, this can be a cheap or very expensive fix. How can I determine which one it is? Which hoses are accessible. Should I just bite the bullet and have the bungs welded onto the plenum and get new hoses? or should I just get new hoses and do the sharkwerks screw in the coolant hose? How much have people with this issue paid to have it resolved? My preference is the welded bungs as this will fix all of my coolant hose issues in the future. If so, which shops would you recommend to get the hoses replaced and welded? I live in the NYC area.
TIA for any help you can give.

Welding the bungs in only cost me $300, dropping the engine and tranny to do the repair, now that costs money. The drawback as I see it to the Sharkwerks fix is that the bungs are fastened in but are still able to leak when the glue starts to give way. Welding eliminates this shortcoming.

You need to determine if it was the coolant hardpipe(s) that failed (i.e. Sharkwerks or Excellence Mag issue) or simply one of the coolant hoses that popped off. The former is a much more extensive repair, AFAIK.

Have you checked your coolant resevoir? That's a very inexpensive problem to fix, if that's it......

Have you looked to see that it's not one of the coolant supply hoses ? If it is then it's an easy fix, and you just need to replace that hose (normally the one closest to the back passenger motor mount). We've seen these blow from hitting the motor mount under hard launches and acceleration, and over time it'll put a gash in the hose which eventually blows under pressure.

Ah. Makes sense. I'm gonna climb under the car today to take a look at where the coolant is leaking from. I always thought it was just the hardpipes that blew.

49k miles on the car and I never track it. It's a 2001. I do a lot of spirited driving though.
