Upgrades start in earnest

Well, I guess its getting serious now...

For those of you that care, the C63 transformation started today as well. I'll post links to that once it gets interesting. Friday started with a dyno run and today they started pulling the motor apart on the Merc.

I'll update the TT upgrade as we go. I think I'll have almost all the parts in hand tomorrow. I just have to go get a few odds and ends not included in some kits.

BTW, I'd like to thank Fedex for meeting expectations to the letter and not doing one iota more for your customers than you have too.

For those of you at Fedex that wonder where my $28,000 PER DAY went, it went to UPS because they don't do this to me. And if they did, they wouldn't be dumb enough to actually update the online status like this.

Makes me proud to be an American.

There's more to this than listed. That will be our little secret for the time being.

Needless to say, this is my C63 beginning its process. For those of you that want to see what a C63 can be made to do, stop in to ACG if you are in SoCal or watch the build on the forums and Facebook.

There are dozens of vendors involved and the car will hopefully be making the rounds of some Las Vegas conventions this fall.

What kit did you go with for the 996TT? Is ACG doing that build as well?

The turbos and Softronic software and clutch are from Vivid Racing. The input piping, intercoolers and exhaust I got from Speedtech. The intercoolers are EVO something or other units. Truthfully, I've been wrapped up in getting the AMG build kicked off and managing my business. I hope to spend more time on the turbo build today now that all the parts are going to be in and the motor is out of the car.

ACG is not doing that build, the repair shop next door to me is doing it. I really don't consider the Porsche build that complicated. Its more a matter of taking the old parts out and installing new parts that are just bigger. The motor came out because its faster, easier and I'm going to do some general maintenance on it while I'm at it. The mechanics found some small leaks here and there already and most of the normal maintenance items will be replaced now also as the car might only have 45K on the odometer, but its coming up on 8 calendar years old. Time to go through it to help it last another 8.

Little monkey wrench in the works today but kudos to Vivid Racing on two fronts.

It turns out that the flywheel couldn't be resurfaced. So, I thought lets call Vivid and get a lightweight one as long as we have to buy something. But, its 5:15pm already! I make the call and half expected them to be closed. But they answered the phone and the guys at Vivid grabbed the UPS guy and held him while they grabbed me a LWFW and got it out tonight at 5:30pm.

Their 2nd atta boy comes from getting the part out before even billing me. When it came time to run my card it got denied. They didn't try to grab back the part, they called me and we cleared the expiration date issue over the phone after hours. I wouldn't recommend they do that for non-repeat customers but it was a pleasant surprise we didn't miss a shipping day because they were taking care of money before service.

Good job guys.
