EVO Intake Comments
EVO Intake Comments
I installed the EVO intake the night before my track event last Friday. I hit a bump during the install (which should take only 30 minutes - it's easy). I called Todd and he sent me a '03tt intake kit and I am putting this on my '04tt ( I have both and Todd thought it would go on the other car). I thought well, that's it, I'll throw the old intake back on and wait for the new one. Instead, Todd says, "if you want to cut two notches in it, it will fit and I'll send you the new one to swap later." I said, "Damnnn, if you don't mind, I'll do it." So, I cut a couple of notches to fit around some bumps that are only in the '04 tail. Everything went in, piece of cake.
Now, for the test drive home. The first thing I felt was noticalby stronger pull down low, around 3-4k rpms! I am not a guy to be sucked in thinking something is good because I paid a lot. This thing really works. It also feels like the boost ramps up faster (again, I think because it comes on earlier and stronger).
Secondly, you can here the BV's a little while downshifting. They go bzzz between shifts, very cool. Although with my straight pipes, it's hard to hear a lot.
I am very happy with the mod, surprised that it is so noticable, and most impressed by the consistently superior service I get from the guys at EVO.
Seriously, if you want quite a nice little goose in performance, get this thing.

Hey EVO guys, can you do something with my intake on the 993?
It's a pretty small opening and I figure that more air can get through if it's enlarged.... Okay with removing the intercooler shroud...

Just got my car back from the shop today. Had the ScarGO curved drop links installed and the FVD aluminum intake plenum. When I got the car home, I proceeded to install the EVO intake. I just got back from taking the car for a good blast. Boost seems to come on sooner and I am holding a higher [BOOST] level than I ever have before. I had a check engine light come on early into the drive, but didn't notice any performance problems.
