i have been told yesterday my turbo has blown... not sure thats correct !!!
you said it smoked only one side ? mine is smoking on the 2, i always thought if it blows it only smoke on the side its gone???

I had this happen on my car. I did a boost test and fixed a plenum leak after taking ypipe off. Took out on a test drive and got a 1.2 boost with a max of 1.3 boost. I shut her down and ran the codes-P1657. Well in my haste to get everything back together I forgot to hook up the electrical connector for the air recirculation overrun valves located below the diverter valves and also the line going from the f hose to the n75 valve-yeah pretty dumb on my part!!
Well on the test drive going to 1.3 put a smile on my face as I only have a 1 bar tune. So I thought fixing the leak resulted in huge HP gains- Wrong..
I feel lucky that no damage occurred
So guys ...be vigilant and inspect your car from time to time boost leak tests etc......

Hey no panic vogz.... I am just amazed that I had the same problem...BUT it appeared my ECU limited my blunder to 1.3 bars.

 

Interesting my blown motor was the same cylinder. Middle passenger side.

 

if you have an x pipe design exhaust the exhaust merges and so you could have smoke out of both pipes with a single turbo blown.

 

I'd get a second opinion before I started rebuilding turbos.
