Anyone Run 19" Winter Tires on a 996tt??
Anyone know of a 19" winter tire combination that will work on a 996tt? I found 1 combination of Pirelli 240's that are within .25" in diameter (235/35/19 front and 285/30/19 rear), but the rears are the larger of the two. It seems people like to run slightly larger fronts, simliar to OEM...
I found 1 other combination, but it is mixing and matching Blizzak's and Pirelli's which seems like a bad idea due to different conditional performance (wet vs dry vs ice)...
Thoughts??

I have to imagine (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that your rears will burn down so much faster that the .25" difference won't matter for more than about 1000 miles.
I'd like to see other people's thoughts though

I just ask because I already have the 19" wheels... And wish I were in Florida...

All Season and Snows are a world of difference. Just buy some inexpensive 18 inch wheels. That's what I did and my 996TT is unstoppable.

I have seen previous discussions of tire size and revs per mile came up pretty quickly (makes sense). For a 25.5" wheel, .25" difference is only 8 revs per mile (791 vs 783) which sounds small to me, but I am new to this as well. Also, if the fronts are *intended* to be larger (someone can chime in), this "difference" is more than 8 revs per mile relative to stock...
The main reason I asked the original question was to see what others were running (brand/size) considering I already have the 19" wheels. That's all.

The car's are just fine in the snow with the correct tires. As you probably know by now, there's next to nothing out there that works correctly on the car in 19". Generally, if you can stay within 4% in OD front/rear you will be OK.
With that said, I almost never sell 19" snow tires for these cars. 18" is a better idea. A set of 18 x 8 and 18 x 10 or 11" with 225/40 and 275/35 Blizzaks is the way to go.
