Best clutch for tune and exhaust only?

Will more than likely spend a couple of days a year at the drag strip . After researching here it seems like the " clutch master stage two with fiber tough" and " gt2 disc and cm pressure plate" are the two most suggested options. Best of the two and best/least expensive places to buy?

Thanks in advance
Jonathan

Seems like OEM might do the job you're looking for.

I guess I'm just worried about doing all that labor on the R&R and have a stock begin to slip a few thousand miles later with the additional 100hp the car has now.

If you are not drag racing, I would stick with stock clutch disk and just up the clamping pressure of the pressure plate. I read somewhere recently that clutch masters was modifying pressure plates to increase the clamping pressure for not alot of dough. That would most likely be the cheapest path. The other option would be a kennedy clutch setup. They are cheaper than any after market setup and California Motorsports highly recommends them. And if you go higher clamp PP do the gt2 slave mod too so you don't eat slave cylinders.

If you do drag race I suggest clutch master due to their disk materials. The pressure plate clamping pressure is what reduces unwanted slipping. The disk material is for handling the heat caused by abuse such as seen with drag racing.

I just had the Sachs "Sport" clutch kit (solid hub disk, 999 pressure plate) put in my 996TT. It feels like stock to me, no chatter, smooth engagement, good up to around 650hp, or so I am told. Parts ran about $1600. I think this is essentially what the EVOMS Stage 1 is as well.

I have exhaust and tune and was looking for a little mare clamping force as you are. I wanted stock feel and am very happy with this setup.

I was told it has 20% more clamping force, I will look up and post part numbers later today.

I am curious of the part numbers used in the EVOMS Stage 1 to verify if they are in fact the same...

Their are actually a bunch different 999 pressure plates. The one ending in 764 will handle a flash and up to at least k24/18g turbos.

This is a great set-up, my favorite. I run it with the fulcrum mod. I will caution you though, at 650 HP it will not last long without the fulcrum mod. Mine started slipping after 6 months without the additional clamp force. I had to send out the PP for an addtional 1000 lbs. clamp force via a fulcrum mod and that held for 3 years. It just started slipping again after about 30,000 miles of use. Without the fulcrum mod it only went about 10,000 miles (one summer) before slipping in the fall...

It looks like pelican has it: (88-3082-999-764)

Yes, the solid hub disk is designed to work with the stock DMFW. You'll also need the throw out bearing, part #950 116 080 08, also available at pelican.
