Best Buck Wheels

Hey guys. I'm looking at a new set of wheels for my 996tt. I was looking at some forgestar f14s. They look nice and at $1460 a set, are the best price I've seen. Unfortunately they have a lead time of 6 weeks. Are there any other good wheels out there in this price range, or maybe event closer to a grand? I haven't found anything used even in that price range.

You get what you pay for with wheels, so in that price range you're getting very heavy and probably not very strong wheels. It sounds like all you care about is appearance though. Living in upstate NY I'd wonder how long it'll take before you start bending cheap wheels like that. I grew up not far from you and the roads can have some big holes in them!

I'm not overly concerned with weight. Equal or less than stock is fine. Style is important yes, and so is cost. I don't have 5 grand for HREs or some of the other high end stuff people have here. I've gotten good deals on wheels in the past and done well. I've heard very good things about forgestar. I know there are a number of members here who have used them and loved them, including on the track.

OZ Ultralaggeras. Light and strong. Im on the fence on selling mine as I may want to go 18 instead of my current 19 setup. I had a set on my M3 for years and ran over a bunch of potholes and such and never had an issue with bends or cracks. OZ is a well built wheel and are some of the lightest wheels out there.

Wheels & tires are the only thing that connect your car to the road... cheap out on something else in my opinion. Never understood (specially with tires) why someone would go the cheapest route on a car they want to perform.

What stock wheels are you running? Anything in this price range new is going to weigh more, probably significantly more. If you can find a good set of used wheels you might be in luck. Those OZ's mentioned above aren't even close to a grand for the set. The fronts in 18" are $400 and the rears are about $600 I believe so you're at $2000 right there. Very light wheels though.

Look into the Victor Equipment Innsbruck wheels. They are forged and can be had for ~$1400. Obviously for more money you can get a better wheel. But for ~$1400 they will still spin like any other wheel, will be strong being forged and will look great.

Victor Equipment Innsbruck? Anyone have problems with these? I think they look great. Price point in line with what you're looking for. Lightweight.

i had intended to buy a set of the victor/innsbruck, but after having had a couple sets of victors on my other cars, i was drawn to the f'star f14's since many seemed to be using them for track use, and the price point is nearly about the same, and they look (imo) much better than victors or similarly priced wheels. also i got to special order with the f14's for the fitment i wanted. not so, the victors. plus the victors look and seem "cheap". the f14's do not. i have the brushed titanium in 9x12x18, and i think they look great and the car is as planted at speed, as i'll ever need.

i can't imagine there is a better made wheel ( for the money ) in either looks or weight/load strength etc. i'm sure, that anyone on the fence on buying these will be happy with them once installed. only downside.. was 6-8 weeks on build FOB la BUT only $1500.00 delivered.

best $1500.00 wheels hands down.

Not true, there are plenty of expensive wheels that break easily.

Forgestars are neither heavy nor flimsy.

I put wheels through the ringer and oddly enough the only wheel I've cracked is one of the most expensive ones (CCW). I have a $500 set of BSA wheels that have lasted forever and taken a straight beating, don't even need to balance them to drive them on the track. My Forgestars are great too, only a couple of events on them though.

So, you already know what you want. Wait the 6 weeks and go for it. Otherwise come May 1st, you'll wish you had waited.

the forgestar f14's were great and weren't heavy not sure why people love to ASSUME.
My forgestar f14's in 18x9 were 19 lbs and 18x11 +30 were 20 lbs, so way less then OEM. Great wheel for the price, wish I didn't sell them.
