Newbie question

Hey all,

I just got a 04 turbo cab x50 a week ago. It's my first porsche.
Car is amazing. Sounds wonderful. I am going to fall in love with this car. My friend has bunch of cars included in ferrari, bentley, etc. But I dont envy him. I like mine the BEST!

It's a triple black color. Cab feels wonderful with this car.
Sorry, I will stop bragging.

Question 1. Do you hear click sound when you step on clutch all the time?
Question 2. Book says break in period is until 2000 mileage. Isn't that too long??? I just hit first 150 miles and I just can't stand keeping my foot till 4000 RPM only. Folks! What's the reasonable wait time here so I can hit some gas to red line?

Thanks all. Hope I join you guys for real fun.

Darkspeed,
First off, welcome and congratulations!! I like your color but then again, I am partial. Stick around here as you will find a wealth of info.
Now, to your questions.........
  1. You will have to elaborate a little on the nature of the sound. Does it come from the pedal or the transmission?
  2. Personally, I would follow the prescribed break-in period so that you do not incur any warranty snafu's. Porsche cannot argue with you if you follow their directions. And yes, they can tell. Better safe than sorry. There are different schools of thought regarding break-in but in consideration of your warranty, now isn't the time to experiment.

Since you are in Florida, I urge you to read the top thread and join in. This is the Tail of the Dragon Meet on December 4-6. There are turbo owners coming from many locations along the Eastern Seaboard to meet in North Carolina. Read the first post and it will give you all the information you need to participate including the current list of attendees (updated regularly). It will be a lot of fun and you will see many cars with all types of modifications inside and out.

Again, welcome!!!

1) the clicking is normal
2) 2000 sounds way too long to me. i usually give cars about 700 easy miles. remember porsche themselves have already run the engine hard before putting it in the car.

Darkspeed,

Nice choice, although mine's actually Basalt Black Met. The clicking sound is normal, I have it on this car and a previous TT. You're going to love it, the car's phenominal!

Congrats on the new car!

The clutch clicking sound is a switch that only allows the car to be started with the clutch pedal fully pressed.
